Chapter 23: The Fate of Li Yueqi
"Young man?"
Li Yueqi called out daintily a few more times. Still, she failed to capture Ye Feng's attention.
Clatter!
Li Yueqi’s shouting attracted a large crowd of zombies to the area below her window. As the zombies gathered, their incessant roars filled the air. The situation made her stomp her feet in frustration. How infuriating!
Li Yueqi continued to call out, but seeing Ye Feng ignore her again, her brows furrowed, and her face twisted in displeasure.
"Young man? Hey, are you deaf? I'm asking you to save me! Are you tone-deaf or just plain deaf?"
Ye Feng didn't even spare her a glance. Along his journey, those begging for help were as numerous as carp crossing a river; it was impossible to save them all, and he had no intention of doing so anyway.
Seeing that Ye Feng remained indifferent, Li Yueqi’s anger flared. Gritting her teeth, she spat out in a fit of pique, "Fine, fine, fine! So you're going to ignore me, are you?"
She scanned her surroundings, and a light suddenly sparked in her eyes. She grabbed a chair from her room and returned to the window, hoisting it high before hurling it down in the direction of Ye Feng’s path.
The chair traced a parabolic arc through the air.
*Thud!*
It smashed heavily into the ground, shattering on impact and creating a loud, echoing crash. The massive noise drew the surrounding zombies toward it.
*Wooo!*
The zombies surged, pushing and shoving as they swarmed the area. Ye Feng was instantly trapped in the middle of a crowd, unable to move forward. Frowning, he slammed on the brakes. The mass of zombies surrounded him, restless and darting their heads about, but strangely, they could not seem to pinpoint his location.
Li Yueqi was pleasantly surprised. The zombies really weren't attacking him? It seemed this man truly had some tricks up his sleeve. Perhaps he was barely good enough for her.
"Young man!" Li Yueqi called out in a sweet, affected voice.
This time, Ye Feng looked up, his gaze icy as he locked eyes with the internet celebrity. "Did you throw that chair?"
Li Yueqi was overjoyed; she had finally captured his attention. With her stunning looks, he was bound to be smitten! "Yes, I did. I just thought you weren't paying attention to me! Young man, come and save me! I'm willing to be your girlfriend!" She puffed out her chest, intentionally revealing her fair collarbones and a glimpse of her cleavage.
Ye Feng glanced at the woman. She had a certain appeal, but compared to Lin Xiaoxiao, she was nowhere near enough.
Ye Feng coldly spat out three words: "You aren't worthy!"
Li Yueqi’s beautiful eyes widened in shock. She was stunned, unable to believe her ears for a moment. Who was she? She had been the class beauty in school, known as a "super beautiful girl," and now she was a moderately famous influencer with 200,000 followers. She had offered herself up, and yet she was rejected?
"You say I'm not worthy of you?" Li Yueqi pointed at herself, her face full of disbelief.
"That's right, not worthy. Even if you threw yourself at me, I wouldn't want you," Ye Feng sneered.
Thrown herself at him? Wouldn't want her? Li Yueqi was instantly enraged. She had never been treated with such contempt. She snapped—her composure shattered on the spot.
"Heh, you say I'm not worthy? And you wouldn't want me?" she shrieked. "You loser, are you blind? This is hilarious! I'm not worthy, ha!"
Li Yueqi was so angry she nearly ground her back teeth to dust. "Go take a piss and look at yourself in the reflection! You think you're too good for me? I don't want you either!" She lashed out, spewing insults. "Disgusting! A self-righteous prick, how pathetic! Just a bottom-tier loser who happened to awaken some trashy ability—ooh, aren't you just amazing!"
Every word Li Yueqi uttered reached Ye Feng’s ears, and it actually made him laugh in spite of his irritation. Good grief, the apocalypse had been going on for days; he had assumed all the survivors would have developed some common sense by now. Who would have thought there would still be people actively seeking their own death?
"Very well," Ye Feng muttered with a cold smirk. "I'll grant your wish."
With a thought, a pistol materialized in his hand—a Desert Eagle.
Meanwhile, Li Yueqi was still leaning out of the window, her body hanging over the ledge as she continued her tirade. "You pathetic loser! I gave you a chance, and this is how you treat me? You trash of a man, what kind of eyes do you have? You'd be better off not having them at all..."
As her spittle flew, Ye Feng chambered a round, raised the gun, and adjusted his aim. He pulled the trigger in one fluid motion.
*Bang!*
The shot rang out. The bullet streaked through the air.
*Splat!*
The shot hit Li Yueqi squarely, blowing out her silicone-enhanced chest.
"Ah! Wah!" Li Yueqi shrieked, frozen in terror. She didn't understand what had happened; her mouth hung open, still twitching.
*Bang! Bang!*
Ye Feng showed no mercy, firing two more shots in quick succession. These two bullets pierced both of Li Yueqi's hands.
"Aaaah!" The agonizing pain hit, and Li Yueqi screamed. Losing her balance, she pitched forward, plunging headfirst from the window and crashing heavily into the pack of zombies below.
"Aaaaaah!"
Her heart-wrenching screams echoed through the air. The zombies below, having nothing better to do, were delighted to find a meal dropped right onto their heads. They swarmed her, their sharp teeth tearing into her flesh.
"No, no... ah... please..."
The screams of Li Yueqi, trapped in the swarm, grew weaker until they finally faded away. The zombies tore her to shreds, blood and gore flying everywhere in a gruesome display.
Ye Feng smiled indifferently as he watched her die, then stowed the pistol back into his spatial storage. He then climbed onto his electric scooter and drifted away. He felt not a shred of guilt for killing her. After all, idiots like her wouldn't have lasted a few more days anyway. By sending her off early, he had saved her from further suffering in this world.
"In that sense," Ye Feng thought to himself, "I'm actually quite kind."
Moving forward, Ye Feng soon spotted a police station in the distance. A police station? A thought crossed his mind. Should he go? There was a high probability of finding firearms inside. Thinking of the power of the Desert Eagle, he decided to check it out. Acquiring more weapons would never be a loss. In the early days of the apocalypse, firearms were often more useful than many supernatural abilities. Hoarding more guns could never be a bad thing; even if he couldn't use them all himself, he could give them to others.
"I just wonder if there are still any police officers there..." Ye Feng murmured to himself.
In the apocalypse, the situation inside a police station usually fell into one of three categories: first, the police maintained control and order; second, the criminals inside took over, turning the station into a den of vice; or third, the zombies had overrun it, leaving no survivors. Any of these were possible.
"I wonder which one I'll encounter..." Without overthinking it, Ye Feng sped toward the station.
