Chapter 18: Gained Two Admirers Through Conversation
Su Leyao’s face, which had been smiling moments before, instantly stiffened upon hearing those words.
Hua Susu’s remarks were becoming increasingly outrageous, showing no regard for anyone’s dignity.
But that was good—her sharper temper and biting words only pushed Ruan Nan further away, making him less likable.
With this in mind, Su Leyao pursed her lips downward, let her lashes droop innocently, and appeared utterly wronged as she spoke softly, “I’m sorry, Princess, I shouldn’t have come here.”
After apologizing to Hua Susu, she cast a pitiful glance at Ruan Nan, her eyes reddening slightly. “I’m sorry, Ah Nan. I shouldn’t have bothered you today. I’ll come to you for help with the experiment another day.”
Having said that, she turned to leave.
Seeing Su Leyao upset and about to walk away, Ruan Nan quickly grasped her hand and comforted her, “Junior, you don’t need to leave. This isn’t your fault at all.”
Then, his anger flared as he shot a furious glare at Hua Susu. “Hua Susu, how can you say that? Junior Leyao only wanted to use the lab for an experiment. Was it necessary for you to drive her away with such venom?”
Ruan Nan was already furious because Hua Susu had taken back his chip key, and now seeing Su Leyao being bullied just added fuel to the fire. He looked ready to stand up for her.
Hua Susu found his accusatory expression laughable.
How ridiculous for someone with nothing to turn around and accuse her of being cruel and driving people away.
Without her, Ruan Nan was nothing.
She sneered coldly, “Ruan Nan, are you out of your mind? This is my family’s lab. I decide who gets to use it. What’s the problem?”
“If you’re not happy, why don’t you spend your own money and set up a lab?”
What nonsense—her own lab and she couldn’t even make decisions?
Ruan Nan must have been spoiled by the original owner to say such things without thinking.
Her words stunned Ruan Nan.
Could this really be Hua Susu—the one who clung to him every day—speaking so harshly?
What did she mean by this? Did she not fear he would completely ignore her from now on?
Some onlookers couldn’t help but laugh at this.
Among them, the sheep-horned beastman laughed the loudest. “No, this is the first time I’ve liked Hua Susu. She finally has some sense.”
The long-eared rabbit beastman smiled and said, “I think there’s nothing wrong with what she said.”
Laughter spread through the crowd.
However, a poor student who was friends with Ruan Nan frowned at the wealthy crowd’s laughter, suspecting they were mocking their poverty.
He immediately defended Ruan Nan, “You rich people, what are you laughing at? Is our hard work bothering you?”
The sheep-horned beastman glanced at him and replied, “Are we laughing at you? So sensitive.”
“Su Leyao is diligent in her studies. Hua Susu didn’t stop her; she just didn’t want to share her lab. How is that her fault?”
“You people really have strange ideas.”
The poor student fell silent after the sheep-horned beastman’s words.
The laughter also reached Ruan Nan’s ears, causing his usually proud expression to stiffen.
Hua Susu, fully aware that he had no money, had said that deliberately.
Was this a brutal humiliation?
No, she was jealous of Leyao, feeling that Leyao had taken him away.
Thinking this, Ruan Nan said with disdain, “Hua Susu, are you done making a scene? You just want me to forgive you. That’s between the two of us. What does Leyao have to do with it? Why insult her like this?”
Wait—did Ruan Nan lose his mind?
She never said anything against Su Leyao.
Wasn’t it that Su Leyao staged a scene herself, and he got caught up in it, defending her and dragging Su Leyao into it?
If it was just the two of them acting, fine. But why drag her in as an extra?
And without paying her for the performance?
She smiled wryly. “Who needs your forgiveness? You think you’re money or something—so charming.”
Her words sparked another round of laughter from the crowd.
The sheep-horned beastman raised an eyebrow. “How come I never noticed before that Hua Susu is so funny?”
The long-eared rabbit shook his head. “This is the first time I’ve noticed too.”
“If she keeps this up, I think I might become a fan of hers.”
“I’ve heard of ‘talking plum’, but ‘talking fan’? What’s that?”
“A fan who loves her words.”
The long-eared rabbit was speechless.
Their conversation was overheard by Ye Xi and Yan Luo, hiding not far away.
“Interesting. Who would have thought Hua Susu would already have fans?” Ye Xi propped his head on his hand and looked at the lab with a mocking smile.
Yan Luo looked surprised. “Hua Susu talks like that—doesn’t she fear offending Ruan Nan?”
Upon learning that Ruan Nan had also come to the lab, they hurried over from the villa, worried Hua Susu might do something bad to Su Yu because of Ruan Nan.
But when they arrived, they only heard Hua Susu firing off a barrage of words and even gaining two fans.
Ye Xi’s fox-like eyes twitched upward as he laughed, “Who knows?”
Then he glanced at Xin Bai, leaning against the lab wall, and asked, “Xin Bai, you’ve had deep spiritual communication with her. What do you think Hua Susu is up to?”
Xin Bai watched Hua Susu solemnly declare, “My Su Yu,” feeling an inexplicable tightness in his chest.
But he quickly adjusted his thoughts, perhaps his spiritual energy had been too strong recently, causing such illusions.
Looking at the three in front of him, he said calmly, “I don’t know. But Hua Susu says she’ll get better, so maybe it’s true.”
Ye Xi blinked, a teasing glint in his eyes. “A person soothed by a female is different—more trustworthy.”
Que Qing snorted lightly. “I think he’s been brainwashed by Hua Susu. Xin Bai, watch your eyes! Maybe Hua Susu and this mooch are putting on a show for you. Once you let your guard down, they’ll take your eyes.”
Hearing this, Yan Luo looked enlightened and gave Que Qing a thumbs-up. “I wondered why Hua Susu has been acting strange lately. I couldn’t figure it out, but Que Qing, you hit the nail on the head.”
After speaking, Yan Luo glanced at Xin Bai, concerned. “Xin Bai, you must be careful. Don’t let Hua Susu fool you.”
Xin Bai shuddered at the warning. Could it be true?
He blinked. His eyes had improved since he started wearing goggles.
After losing his eyes, he had also inquired about Ruan Nan’s situation.
He had gone to the infirmary himself to see the school doctor; Hua Susu had given him no help at all.
Judging by this, it didn’t seem like she cared about his eyes at all.
