Chapter One: The Innocent Streamer Everyone Adores (1)
“Thank you, Xin Xin Little Treasure, for the fireworks. Love you!” The girl’s voice came through the microphone, sweet and soft.
[Baobao Husband: Ahhh, baby’s voice is so lovely, it’s melting me.]
Yun Suisui sat at her desk, looking at the computer screen. She glanced down at the rolls of fat on her body and sighed helplessly.
The livestream had nearly three thousand people online.
[Freeloader: Wife, your voice is so beautiful—even your sighs sound amazing.]
[Xiaoxiao: Why did Meibao sigh? Are you unhappy?]
[Xinxin: With such a lovely voice, Meibao must be very pretty! Looking forward to seeing you on camera!]
[Baibai: Even just showing your figure would be fine, I’m drooling—yes, I’m an old pervert.]
[Meimei: Wait! Hasn’t Ji YL not shown up in Meibao’s stream for three days? Wasn’t he always the one who doted on her most?]
Yun Suisui took a sip of water. “Does anyone want to hear a song? Or maybe a story? I can tell you anything you like.”
[Meimei: I don’t want to hear a song or a story today, I just want to chat with you.]
[Baibai: Meibao, please rest well and take care of your voice.]
Yun Suisui smiled. “Alright, then I won’t do anything else today—let’s just chat.”
Nightfall, Imperial Capital, Nightcolor Bar, Private Room
Ji Yanli lounged lazily on the sofa. Even sitting down, his tall figure was evident. White smoke curled from his lips, his handsome features devoid of expression. His long, elegant hands, fingers distinct and slender, held a cigarette—his entire demeanor exuded an air of nobility.
Gu Shifeng said, “Brother Ji, don’t be upset. If she doesn’t want to meet you, it’s her loss. It’s not worth getting angry over a little streamer.”
Jiang Yu, seated beside Gu Shifeng, added, “If you ask me, she must be ugly, awkward, and fat, or why else wouldn’t she dare meet you?”
Ji Yanli irritably stubbed out his cigarette. “Shut up.”
A month ago, Ji Yanli had stumbled upon Yun Suisui’s stream by chance. For some strange reason, her voice made him feel at ease, and he subconsciously didn’t swipe away. Before long, he’d fallen asleep. He’d assumed it was because he’d been drinking. The next night, his insomnia returned, and her voice echoed in his mind. He opened her stream again, and once more, drifted off to sleep. Thus, every night for a month, Ji Yanli fell asleep to Yun Suisui’s voice. During that month, they added each other on WeChat and chatted sporadically every day.
Gradually, Ji Yanli developed a desire to meet her. He’d suggested meeting twice in the past month, both times refused. After the last rejection, he hadn’t sent her another message.
Gu Shifeng poured Ji Yanli another drink. “Well, what can you do? She’s the only one who can cure your insomnia.”
Ji Yanli downed his glass in one gulp. For the past few days, he’d restrained himself from messaging her, but that heartless little thing hadn’t sent a single message either.
The thought made him more irritable and he drank glass after glass.
Suddenly, his phone rang. Ji Yanli hurriedly checked it, only to find it was just a news notification. Disappointment flickered in his dark eyes.
Meanwhile, Yun Suisui said sweetly into her microphone, “Alright, that’s all for today’s stream. See you all tomorrow!”
She closed the stream, glanced at her layers of fat, and sighed again.
System: Host, keep going! Every time your followers increase by a million, you’ll lose fifty pounds. You still have fifty pounds to go to reach your goal weight of ninety-six pounds.
Yun Suisui stood before the mirror. The girl reflected there had snow-white skin, naturally red lips, and though a little chubby, her large, sparkling eyes revealed a budding beauty.
She now weighed 146 pounds. At 167 centimeters tall, she no longer looked as overweight as before—just a voluptuous, slightly plump beauty from a distance.
A month ago, the original host had been so excited to be admitted to Imperial Capital University that she stayed up for five days straight, dying suddenly from exhaustion. The system sent Yun Suisui into this world to fulfill the original host’s dying wish: to slim down to ninety-eight pounds and have the perfect figure.
Facing the reality of weighing over two hundred pounds, Yun Suisui nearly broke down. Fortunately, she’d won a weight-loss mechanism in a lottery: for every million fans, she’d lose fifty pounds. After a month of hard work posting singing videos, she’d gained over a million followers. During that time, she diligently worked out and lost seventy pounds with the help of the system.
Yun Suisui checked her phone. Her account, “Suisui Loves Meat,” showed 1.3 million followers.
She took another sip of water. She still had to work hard—once she reached two million followers, her weight-loss mission would be complete.
System: Host, are you sure you don’t want to message Ji Yanli to maintain your relationship? His favorability has dropped ten points—it’s now at forty percent.
Yun Suisui tied up her glossy black hair, her voice gentle and soft. “No need—it’s only been three days. I’ll wait until I’ve lost the weight. He shouldn’t be angry, right?”
System: He probably won’t be.
Elegant Residence Hall
A man sat by the window, sunlight filtering through the glass, bathing him in a faint golden glow. His black shirt outlined his muscular frame, sleeves casually rolled to reveal strong forearms.
Music from a zither drifted through the curtains to his ears.
He brewed tea unhurriedly, his wheat-colored skin contrasting with the white jade tea set.
The phone rang. Ji Junmo answered.
“Uncle, I’m downstairs. Wait—why do I hear zither music? Are you hiding someone away in a golden house?” The voice was young, a tone favored by girls these days.
“Come straight up,” Ji Junmo replied, ignoring Ji Yanli’s remark.
Ji Junmo looked toward Yun Suisui, who was playing the zither behind the curtain, his gaze scrutinizing, probing, even somewhat invasive.
Yun Suisui wore a fitted cheongsam, her black hair pinned up with a hairpin, her face lightly made up. Her beautiful almond-shaped eyes were like distant misty mountains, inviting one to lose themselves in their depths; her nose was delicate, her lips tinted a soft pink. Her slender hands played the instrument with measured grace.
System: Host, I’m so anxious! You finally secured the job here as a zither player and today you’re meeting one of your targets, Ji Junmo—why are you still playing?
Yun Suisui’s eyelashes fluttered. “If I approach him now, he’ll think I have ulterior motives.”
The door opened. Ji Yanli entered, dressed in a simple white shirt with a few buttons undone, revealing his collarbones and chest. A faint smile played on his face.
He placed a folder in front of Ji Junmo. “Here’s the file you wanted.”
Ji Junmo poured him a cup of tea, exuding an unmistakable aura of authority. “Try this tea.”
Ji Yanli took a sip. “It’s fine tea, but as for the player inside…”
Ji Junmo didn’t look at Yun Suisui. His voice was indifferent. “I don’t know her. She’s just the zither player here.”
System: Oh my god! Host! Ji Yanli is here too!
Yun Suisui’s eyes widened and, flustered, she struck a wrong note.
Ji Yanli chuckled softly. “Uncle, you may not know her, but the lady inside clearly knows you. Otherwise, why would she make a mistake right after hearing you say you didn’t know her?”
Ji Junmo frowned. He had always despised women who approached him with ulterior motives.
Even frowning, Ji Junmo’s handsome features were captivating.
“The lady inside, would you mind coming out? You should meet my uncle.”
Yun Suisui steadied her nerves. “Sir, you misunderstand. I simply slipped and made a mistake. Please forgive me.”
Her response was calm yet humble, her voice soft and sticky as freshly steamed rice cakes, clinging sweetly to the heart.
Ji Yanli was stunned. Why did this voice sound so much like hers?
