Li Chengfeng wore a puzzled expression. The cries of the two cows were so loud—how could Wang Bin possibly have failed to hear them?
He turned toward the eastern side of the village and said solemnly, “The cries are coming from over there. Cup your ears and listen carefully.”
Wang Bin was puzzled as well. Judging from Li Chengfeng’s expression, he did not seem to be joking. So Wang Bin listened intently.
After listening for quite a while, he heard only the calls of chickens and dogs. There was no sign of any cows. Completely perplexed, he asked, “Chengfeng, are you sure you didn’t hear wrong? There’s no sound of cows anywhere. All I can hear are chickens and dogs.”
“I couldn’t possibly have heard wrong. There really are two cows calling. I can tell. There’s even fear and terror in the old cow’s voice.”
Li Chengfeng trusted his ears. He could not have been mistaken. Two cows were indeed bawling incessantly to the east, and the sound was extraordinarily shrill.
He could not understand why Wang Bin was unable to hear it.
Perhaps it was because he had opened his Third Eye. Through his seven apertures, he could see things others could not see and hear sounds others could not hear.
Just then, a middle-aged woman passed by. Wang Bin hurried over and asked her solemnly, “Second Auntie, did you hear the sound of cows?”
“What sound of cows? I only hear chickens and dogs.”
Wang Bin smiled and turned to Li Chengfeng with a grin. “Ha-ha, you must have heard wrong. Forget about it. Come on, let’s go to my house and have a couple of drinks.”
Li Chengfeng shook his head. Only then did he suddenly realize that he was truly the only one who could hear the sound. No one else could hear it at all.
He turned toward the eastern end of the village and said gravely, “Binzi, believe me. I really heard cows calling. The sound is coming from the east side of the village.”
“I want to go over there and take a look. Is that all right?”

The cries of the two cows had already drawn Li Chengfeng in. He was determined to find out what was causing the strange sound.
Seeing how persistent Li Chengfeng was, Wang Bin had no choice but to accompany him toward the eastern side of the village.
After walking for five or six minutes, they reached the eastern entrance of the village. The cries of the cows were growing closer and closer.
The eastern entrance was surrounded by open farmland, with an unobstructed view in every direction. Yet at a glance, there was not a single large or small cow to be seen.
Wang Bin chuckled. “See? There aren’t any cows here. All the cows in our village died years ago.”
Li Chengfeng was puzzled as well. He could not see a single cow, yet the cries continued without pause. What on earth was going on?
Following the sound, he continued forward. Wang Bin could only trail after him helplessly.
They had not gone far when Li Chengfeng spotted an old cow carved from bluestone beside a parasol tree, along with a smaller bluestone calf.
The cries were coming from the two stone carvings. Every time the stone cows called out, they released a black, baleful aura.
Seeing the two stone cows, Wang Bin said jokingly, “Chengfeng, don’t tell me the sound of the cows is coming from these two stone statues?”
“Your guess is exactly right. The cries are indeed coming from these two stone cows!”
“Don’t joke with me. How could stone cows possibly make a sound?”
“I’m not joking. Everything I’ve said is true.”
Li Chengfeng walked over to the two stone cows and gently stroked them.
The carvings were exquisitely detailed, so lifelike that they looked real.
Both stone cows had their heads raised and their mouths open, facing the village as though they were calling out. Behind them stretched a field, while a parasol tree stood nearby.
After taking in the scene, Li Chengfeng marveled inwardly. From the orientation and posture of the stone cows, he could already tell that these were no ordinary stone carvings. They formed a feng shui arrangement.
He said casually, “If I’m not mistaken, these two stone cows form a superior feng shui arrangement known as Twin Oxen Calling for the Plow.”

“And what’s more, it’s a superior feng shui arrangement that has developed a spiritual feng shui entity.”
“Stop spouting nonsense. Come on, hurry to my house for a drink. The food will be cold soon.”
Wang Bin did not believe a word Li Chengfeng said. They were merely two stone carvings—how could they possibly have anything to do with a feng shui arrangement, let alone a superior formation called Twin Oxen Calling for the Plow? Li Chengfeng certainly had quite an imagination.
In Wang Bin’s eyes, feng shui was nothing more than a legend. It could not truly exist, and he certainly did not believe that the stone cows before him were part of some feng shui arrangement.
Just as Li Chengfeng finished speaking, an elderly man over sixty passed along the nearby path with farming tools slung over his shoulder.
When the old man heard the words “Twin Oxen Calling for the Plow,” he stopped in his tracks. He stared at Li Chengfeng in astonishment and asked curiously, “Young man, how did you know that these two stone cows form the superior feng shui arrangement known as Twin Oxen Calling for the Plow?”
“Grandpa, I’m a feng shui master. I’m proficient in a few of the esoteric arts of feng shui, so naturally I can recognize the formation here.”
The old man was astonished. He examined Li Chengfeng again. He was so young, yet he was already a feng shui master and could even identify the formation in this place. It was still difficult to believe.
“This is the first time I’ve ever seen such a young feng shui master.”
Wang Bin was astonished too. He had assumed Li Chengfeng was merely making things up, but unexpectedly, what he had said was true. These two stone cows really were part of a feng shui formation called Twin Oxen Calling for the Plow.
Most of the younger people in the village knew nothing about the feng shui formation here. Even if they had heard of it, they would not have believed it.
Only the older villagers knew that there was a feng shui formation at the eastern end of the village called Twin Oxen Calling for the Plow. It had guarded the village for generations, bringing favorable weather, abundant harvests, and a thriving population.
Wang Bin asked curiously, “Uncle Six, these two stone cows really are part of a feng shui formation? And it’s called Twin Oxen Calling for the Plow?”
“That’s right. These two stone cows have been here for more than two hundred years.”
The old man had just finished working in the fields and was somewhat tired, so he sat beneath the parasol tree and began telling Li Chengfeng and Wang Bin the story of the Twin Oxen Calling for the Plow feng shui formation.
