Chapter 56: The Dunjia Arts of the Qimen Sect (Part III)
Wang Bin had no idea that every single spot Li Chengfeng pointed to corresponded to the positions of the Twelve Divine Generals of the Six Ding and Six Jia.
How could an ordinary person possibly understand such things?
In today's society, people proficient in the Eight Gates Dunjia, the Nine Palaces Numerology, and the Plum Blossom Easy Number are dwindling in number.
Completely ignoring the presence of Wang Bin and Ye Mengyao, Li Chengfeng first located the Six Ding spirit positions, then took out a Sanhe compass to search for the Six Jia spirit positions.
He alternately looked at the Sanhe compass and the left side of the doorway, his hand gestures shifting incessantly while he muttered incantations under his breath.
"The Six Jia are yang, the Six Ding are yin. Six yang spirits, six yin spirits, each of the twelve divine generals holds their proper post to protect my body."
"The six Jia-zi positions: the divine general of the Jia-zi position is Wang Wenqing, the divine general of the Jia-xu position is Zhan Zijiang, the divine general of the Jia-shen position is Hu Wenchang, the divine general of the Jia-wu position is Wei Yuqing, the divine general of the Jia-chen position is Meng Feiqing, and the divine general of the Jia-yin position is Ming Wenzhang. The six yang divine generals guard the six directions respectively."
"All deities, return to your positions!"
Holding the Sanhe compass, Li Chengfeng changed his hand gestures and pointed to the corresponding spirit position every time he chanted a divine seat and named a divine general.
Each time a spirit position was correctly pointed out, a streak of golden light would flash across. As the golden light flickered, one could briefly catch sight of a majestic divine general wearing golden armor and holding a divine weapon, appearing within the golden light before instantly vanishing.
When Li Chengfeng finished locating the Six Jia spirit positions and shouted for all deities to return to their posts, the Six Jia divine generals appeared simultaneously at their respective spirit positions amidst flashes of golden light, lingering for about three seconds before disappearing.
The moment he finished setting up the protective formation of the Twelve Divine Generals of the Six Ding and Six Jia, the Six Yin and the Six Yang, Li Chengfeng felt his legs go weak and his entire body lose all strength. His complexion turned as pale as paper, and he slumped directly onto the ground, falling backward and fainting.
Both Wang Bin and Ye Mengyao were startled. Just a moment ago, Li Chengfeng had been full of vigor, muttering incantations while pointing here and there—how had he suddenly collapsed?
Wang Bin hurried forward with a concerned expression, half-kneeling beside Li Chengfeng. He patted his face and called out anxiously,
"Chengfeng, what's wrong with you?"
"Wake up! Say something! Don't you dare die on me!"
Ye Mengyao also hurried over to squat down and check on Li Chengfeng. Seeing his pale complexion, unconscious state, and faint breathing, she felt deeply worried and asked with a puzzled expression,
"Mr. Li, what happened to him? He was fine just a moment ago, why did he suddenly faint?"
"I don't know either!"
"Should we rush Mr. Li to the hospital?"
"Yeah!"
Ye Mengyao accompanied Li Chengfeng to the hospital, voluntarily paying the medical expenses upfront. Tirelessly, she busied herself around him like a devoted young wife caring for her own husband—consulting specialists, finding doctors, and calling nurses. Her attentiveness was truly impeccable.
Standing nearby, Wang Bin felt a pang of envy as he watched the busy Ye Mengyao. He simply could not understand why Li Chengfeng remained unmoved by such a beautiful, virtuous woman who was also the daughter of a wealthy family.
If it were him, he would have fallen in love with her without a moment's hesitation.
When Li Chengfeng opened his eyes, he found himself lying in a hospital room, with both Wang Bin and Ye Mengyao by his side.
The doctor had already examined his body and found him to be in prime health, with no illness detected whatsoever. As for the cause of the fainting, the doctor had pondered for a long time.
The final explanation given was that Li Chengfeng had fainted due to physical exhaustion and a deficiency of vital energy and blood.
Seeing Li Chengfeng wake up, Ye Mengyao felt the heavy stone in her heart finally drop. A smile bloomed on her previously anxious face as she stood quietly by, watching him.
Wang Bin was also overjoyed, wearing a smile as he joked,
"Haha, you brat scared the hell out of me just now. I thought you were actually going to kick the bucket!"
"Get lost. Even if you kick the bucket, I won't kick the bucket," Li Chengfeng retorted, giving Wang Bin an annoyed look.
Lying on the hospital bed, he took a deep breath and recalled what had just happened. The moment he finished setting up the protective array of the Twelve Divine Generals of the Six Ding, Six Jia, Six Yin, and Six Yang, he had felt his essence and vital energy drained away by a mysterious force. In an instant, like a deflated balloon, he had passed out cold.
Wang Bin was also filled with confusion, unable to understand why he had suddenly fainted, and casually voiced the question on his mind.
Li Chengfeng had never expected that setting up a Qimen Dunjia formation would consume so much of his essence and vital energy. It was precisely this excessive depletion that had caused him to collapse on the spot.
Deep inside, he remained puzzled as to what exactly had drained the essence and vital energy from his body.
Fortunately, he was young, and losing some essence would not cause severe harm to his body; he would recover in just a few days.
Taking a deep breath, Li Chengfeng sat up on the hospital bed and asked,
"What time is it?"
"It's past six already, it's about to get dark. Are you hungry? I'll go get you something to eat," Ye Mengyao, who had been standing nearby all along, answered hurriedly.
Li Chengfeng hastily turned his head to look outside. The sun had already set, and a lingering trace of twilight still illuminated the earth. How could he possibly be in the mood to eat? A wave of dark foreboding gripped his heart—if night fell and that cat corpse came looking for them, they would be in serious trouble.
"Binzi, let's hurry back to Suiyuan Hall. Once it gets dark, it will be too late."
"Right, how could I have forgotten about that!"
Wang Bin also suddenly realized the severity of the situation. Once night fell, that cat corpse would come out. Now stripped of the hemp rope's restraint, there was simply no imagining how ferocious that dead cat would be.
Daring not to delay for even a second, Wang Bin supported Li Chengfeng as they walked out of the hospital ward. Seeing this, Ye Mengyao asked with a puzzled expression,
"Mr. Li, you've only just arrived at the hospital, why are you leaving already?"
"Shouldn't you rest here for a bit?"
"I have an urgent matter and must get back before dark."
Li Chengfeng merely glanced at Ye Mengyao before continuing outward. Suiyuan Hall had the protective array he had set up; even if that cat corpse came knocking, it wouldn't be able to get in.
If he stayed at the hospital, once the cat corpse tracked him down, the only outcome would be waiting for death.
Seeing his anxious expression, Ye Mengyao offered to drive them back. Li Chengfeng wanted to refuse, not wishing to drag her into this mess.
However, Wang Bin, acting completely shameless, quickly accepted on his behalf.
Giving Wang Bin an exasperated look, Li Chengfeng had no choice but to get into Ye Mengyao's luxury car.
On the way back, Wang Bin chattered incessantly, bombarding them with questions. Though Ye Mengyao looked visibly annoyed, perhaps out of consideration for Li Chengfeng, she did not lose her temper and instead chatted amiably with Wang Bin with a smile.
Li Chengfeng sat in the car in absolute silence, glancing out the window from time to time. The sun had completely set, night had fallen, and streetlights were quietly illuminating the roads. The shops on both sides of the street had all turned on their lights.
Suddenly, he thought he saw a cat crawl out from a sewer grate.
He hurriedly rolled down the car window to check if it was that dead cat.
When he looked back at the spot, however, there was nothing to be seen; the cat's traces had long since vanished. An ominous premonition stirred deep within Li Chengfeng's heart.
"Miss Ye, can you drive a little faster?"
