Wen Yueqing walked with firm steps, showing not the slightest hesitation. She had no desire to speak to him now, convinced that Zun You had misunderstood her because of this incident. She felt wronged; she was the one who had been framed, and yet, instead of comforting her, he questioned her like this.

Was he not afraid she might truly leave with Zun Yi? Or was he merely using this chance to test her? Whatever his reason, she had no heart to argue with him at this moment.

"Yue'er, wait a moment," Zun You called after her, moving to pursue her.

Zun Yi reached out to stop him. "Third Brother, we've been through so much tonight. I think Miss Wen must be in a foul mood. Let her rest."

Hearing this, Zun You halted, falling silent as he mulled it over, then sank onto a nearby stool. He hadn't expected Wen Yueqing to care so much about the matter, to be so upset as to nearly cry.

But he felt he wasn't wrong—was it not right to respect her wishes?

Zun Yi watched his brother's desolate expression and sighed, seating himself beside him.

"Third Brother, I believe Miss Wen cares for you. Otherwise, she wouldn't be so emotional."

He spoke softly, offering comfort before continuing, "You should go and explain things to her tomorrow. This is all my fault. If you like, I'll go with you. Miss Wen is clever; I'm sure she'll understand."

Zun You forced a bitter smile. "Is that so? If she truly understood, she wouldn't have spoken as she did today."

"Don't lose heart, Third Brother. Miss Wen is just upset, that's all," Zun Yi said, seeing the sadness on his face.

"I really don't understand. My intentions for her are sincere, yet she insists on misunderstanding me," Zun You sighed in frustration.

"Perhaps today's events unsettled her, causing her to overthink," Zun Yi replied, lowering his head.

Afraid his brother might misconstrue his words, he quickly added, "Third Brother, nothing improper happened between Miss Wen and me."

"Fifth Brother, I know. This matter doesn't concern you. It's a disgrace for such filth to happen in my household, and you were caught up in it. Let me investigate, and I promise you an explanation."

Zun You, recalling the affair with the aphrodisiac, felt his rage burn anew. Who was it? Who could have plotted so cruelly against her?

"Third Brother, try to calm yourself. Don't let anger harm your health. I believe this was aimed at Miss Wen. You must be careful," Zun Yi advised, still concerned for Wen Yueqing, hoping she wouldn’t be hurt again.

"Yes. It's late; Fifth Brother, stay the night in the guest room. Tomorrow, I'll see you off myself."

Zun You no longer wished to talk, so he patted Zun Yi’s shoulder.

"Very well. You rest early too, Third Brother," Zun Yi said as he rose and walked toward the door.

"Yes, go sleep," Zun You replied.

Once Zun Yi had left, Zun You sat alone for a long while, lost in thought. The events of the day had been overwhelming, leaving him utterly at a loss. There was never a day’s peace in this estate, and he was troubled, unsure how to relieve his distress.

"Yue'er, how can I make you understand my heart?" he whispered, closing his eyes and leaning back against the chair.

Everything had happened so suddenly today, leaving him flustered and disoriented.

Meanwhile, in the guest room, Zhao Yuntao had already dressed and tidied her hair. She waited eagerly for Zun Yi to come and take her away.

After nearly half an hour, she heard the door open. She quickly stood and peered outside—Zun Yi had indeed returned.

"Your Highness, are we leaving now?" she asked, approaching him with a shy, blushing face.

"It's too late tonight. We'll leave tomorrow. For now, let's get some sleep," Zun Yi replied, turning away, embarrassed to look at her closely as he moved toward the bed.

"Alright," she murmured, biting her lip, her cheeks flushed with shyness.

Seeing Zun Yi ready to remove his outer robe, she hurried to help him.

"Thank you," Zun Yi said, unsure what to say, after all, they had only met today.

"It is my duty to serve Your Highness; you need not thank me," Ah Tao replied, offering a sweet smile.

Zun Yi noticed her small, pointed canine tooth and suddenly found her rather cute. Perhaps, one day, he might come to care for her—such things were unpredictable.

He sat by the bed and extended his hand to her, smiling gently. "Come, join me."

Zhao Yuntao glanced at him, her heart fluttering wildly. She thought to herself, "It seems the Fifth Prince is quite satisfied with me."

"Your Highness," she whispered, taking Zun Yi's hand.

That night, nothing happened between them. Zhao Yuntao had thought Zun Yi would want her again, and she was prepared, but he simply lay down and fell asleep, slumbering soundly until morning.

Yet Zhao Yuntao seemed to hear him muttering in his dreams, though the words were too soft to make out.

"Wen Yueqing..." Zun Yi murmured indistinctly.

At that moment, Wen Yueqing returned to her room with a dark, brooding expression.

"Sister Qing, you're back. What did His Highness say?" Tong'er asked, noticing her sour mood and quickly expressing concern.

"Nothing. I'm a bit tired. You may leave," Wen Yueqing replied weakly.

"Alright, then rest well. If you need anything, just call me," Tong'er said, turning away and leaving.

Wen Yueqing collapsed onto her bed, tears streaming down her face. She had held back for so long, but at last, she could cry freely.

Tong'er, still nearby, heard her sobbing through the door, wanting to comfort her but unsure what to say. She could only sigh quietly and let her sister weep, for who could know the pain in her heart?

"That eunuch is despicable. Tomorrow, I'll tell His Highness. We must find him," Tong'er cursed inwardly, feeling indignant for Wen Yueqing. She still remembered the eunuch’s face—if she saw him again, she would surely recognize him.

Wen Yueqing wept bitterly alone in her room, soaking her pillow with tears.

She had thought having Zun You’s protection was enough, enjoying a life of luxury, but now she wished to leave the estate. She longed to escape, even to live as an ordinary person, opening a small shop to support herself—better than staying here, where nothing went right.

Not only was she deprived of freedom, but every day someone seemed intent on harming her. If this went on, she feared for her life.

Now, Zun You seemed unreliable as well, willing to give her away to another. Thinking of all the troubles of the day, she felt an urge to curse.

She lay on her bed, her mind wandering. Half-awake, she drifted into sleep, still angry at Zun You in her dreams.
