Chapter 43: Junior Repairman, Let Him Try
"Alpha Holy Hammer cyberware?!" Old Chen was slightly stunned.
Zhu Shan'er asked in surprise, "The Bear Federation? The largest federation in northern China after the New Era?"
Su Cheng nodded.
Jails said with disdain, "Hmph, talk is cheap. Anyone can just claim whatever they want. Who knows if you're making things up."
Old Chen also recovered and chimed in, "Exactly, I've never even heard of it. Who knows if you're just fabricating nonsense."
The plump woman suddenly spoke up, "He's right!"
Everyone instantly fell silent and looked at her.
She was Savitlina, Rose's assistant, who had been with Rose from the very beginning.
"That is indeed cyberware developed by the Bear Federation. It's perfectly normal that you haven't seen it before."
Savitlina explained, "After the Century War, humanity experienced a very long period of isolation. Countries stopped communicating with anyone outside their own alliances. Consequently, the technology developed during that era was used exclusively by their respective nations, federations, and alliances. Other countries had no knowledge of it."
Su Cheng nodded. He had read about this period in the books left behind by his father.
Before humanity formed alliances, built City of the Future, and engaged in interstellar travel, other nations had all manufactured their own cyberware.
According to the description of the Pupil of Dimension, only the Symbiotic Combat Armor was jointly developed by the human alliance and used by all of humanity.
Before that—including Grade-A combat cyberware—every nation had its own research and development companies, or engaged in joint ventures.
The focus of R&D varied from country to country, each bearing unique national characteristics.
Guangke Technology Group had once been the most powerful scientific research company in China!
To research and develop powerful technology faster and better, to break out of the solar system and leave an Earth that was becoming increasingly uninhabitable, all nations and federations integrated all of their scientific research technologies!
Guangke Technology Group was the company that held all of China's scientific research achievements!
Even other nations on the East Asian continent used series of products developed by Guangke Technology Group.
However, other countries also had their own national-level technology companies.
Therefore, cyberware was not limited to grades ranging from A to E, nor were the models produced solely by a single company like Guangke.
Savitlina looked at Su Cheng. "I don't know how someone as young as you managed to recognize that it's the Alpha Holy Hammer cyberware, considering it's not only from the Bear Federation, but also extremely rare."
Su Cheng smiled faintly, "Like I said, I read it in a book. After all, if you're a cyberware mechanic who doesn't recognize cyberware, how are you supposed to repair it?"
Hearing this, Old Chen's face flushed red with anger!
He hadn't recognized the cyberware.
"Hmph, so what if you recognize it? Does that mean you definitely know how to fix it?"
Jails said disdainfully, "Since Miss Rose's cyberware is so precious, that's all the more reason not to let this brat repair it. If he ruins it, can a poor wretch like him afford to compensate for it?"
Savitlina glanced at him. "There's no need for Young Master Jails to worry. Miss has finished her match and will be back soon. She can make her own judgment then."
Inside the arena, Rose walked down the ring amid the deafening cheers of the audience.
Soon, Rose walked into the lounge wearing a dark red contestant's robe.
Savitlina, who had been waiting there all along, took the jacket she tossed aside and handed her a bottle of intermediate nutrient solution and a towel.
"Dammit."
Rose swaggered over, lay down on the sofa, wiped the sweat from her forehead with the towel, and opened the nutrient solution to drink it all down.
Due to her wild movements, the nutrient solution spilled from the corner of her lips, trickling down her exquisite chin.
She possessed a standard European face!
Her golden hair was even more dazzling than Rebecca's, and her figure was even hotter!
Savitlina followed closely behind her, standing beside the sofa.
"This cyberware is getting harder and harder to use. I feel like it's going to blow apart at any moment."
Rose frowned and clenched her hand.
"Old Chen, I thought you were one of the best mechanics in the arena. Can't you even fix this?"
As she spoke, she looked toward Old Chen and only then noticed Su Cheng sitting on the other side.
Zhu Shan'er immediately introduced, "Sister Rose, this is the amazing mechanic I told you about. All my cyberware was installed by him."
Rose nodded, "I didn't expect him to be so young and handsome. No wonder you always bring him up."
Zhu Shan'er's pretty face instantly blushed. "Brother Su is truly amazing."
Jails listened from the side, burning with intense jealousy.
"Alright, alright."
Rose looked helplessly at Su Cheng and asked, "What tier of mechanic are you?"
Su Cheng answered truthfully, "Junior."
"Hahaha..."
Jails burst out laughing instantly, "I thought he was somebody important. Turns out he's just a junior mechanic."
Old Chen also let out a cold snort. After all that, he had spent half the day arguing with a junior mechanic.
He crossed his arms and cast a disdainful glance at Su Cheng.
Zhu Shan'er's expression shifted, and she suddenly broke into a bizarre smile, "Jails, I told you to watch your mouth!"
Jails was startled by her sudden, eerie smile.
Although both were three-star combat mercenaries, Zhu Shan'er was undoubtedly stronger!
Not only did she possess Grade-B combat cyberware, but she also carried military-grade implants!
Such a combination was a rare sight even in the fighting arena!
"Little girl, you might actually have been fooled by him."
Old Chen stood up. "A junior mechanic doesn't even qualify to be my apprentice. What could he possibly fix? A sewer pipe? This is the Bear Federation's Holy Hammer cyberware we're talking about!"
Upon hearing this, Rose asked in surprise, "Old Chen, you actually recognize my cyberware? Didn't you say earlier that you didn't know what it was?"
Old Chen said confidently, "I had already figured it out earlier, I just hadn't confirmed it yet. I only just verified that it is indeed the Holy Hammer cyberware!"
"My foot!"
No-Brain suddenly shouted at the top of his lungs, "You old fart is lying! It was my cousin who said it was the Holy Hammer cyberware, and that's how you found out! You damn scoundrel, go eat shit!"
"You, you!"
Old Chen was so angry his fingers began to tremble. "What does a broken-down robot like you know? A pile of junk! Believe me, I'll have the guards throw you out!"
"Oh dear, I'm so scared I almost peed my pants. I'm shaking."
No-Brain placed his hands on his body, putting on an exaggerated look of terror.
Old Chen's face turned beet red with rage!
"Hahaha... Interesting, very interesting."
Rose suddenly burst out into laughter. "Such an amusing robot."
No-Brain struck a coquettish pose, "Don't fall for my charms, cousin. I'm the robot you can never have."
"Aww, fun, so fun. I really want to dismantle you to see what kind of photonic brain you have."
Though Rose was laughing, her words made No-Brain instantly clamp his legs tightly together.
She certainly didn't appreciate robots joking around with her.
Su Cheng said impatiently, "Are we going to fix this or not? My time is precious. If this girl hadn't dragged me here, I wouldn't have come."
Old Chen sneered, "A junior mechanic acting all high and mighty."
Then he looked at Rose, "Miss, I can give it a try, but I need to go back and check some reference books. It's been too long, and I might be a bit rusty."
Now that he knew what kind of cyberware it was, he believed he could definitely find the relevant information.
After all, he was a senior mechanic!
Jails immediately echoed, "Miss Rose, you should let Master Chen try. After all, he's a senior mechanic, far more reliable than some random nobodies."
Rose looked at Zhu Shan'er, then at Old Chen and Jails, and finally glanced at Savitlina.
Savitlina lowered her head and said, "I suggest we let this young mechanic give it a try."
