Tears streamed down Su Qingli’s face, leaving her utterly lost and helpless. Yet Jiang Hao remained perfectly calm, as though the sudden collapse of Old Madam Su was but a trivial incident to him. He had already discerned the truth: Old Madam Su was not dead.

Although her current state appeared dire, as if she might stop breathing at any moment and pass away then and there, in reality, she was not yet at death’s door. It was merely a recurrence of her lung disease; in a fit of anger, her lung function had been thrown into disarray. As long as she was sent to the hospital in time, her life could certainly be saved.

“Instead of wasting time blaming me, you’d do better to call an ambulance and have your grandmother rushed to the hospital,” Jiang Hao said coolly.

Su Qingli finally snapped back to her senses and hurriedly pulled out her phone. “I’ll call an ambulance right away—”

“No need for your concern! You’re the one who made Grandma faint from anger; what’s the point of pretending to be the good guy now?” Su Tianming bellowed at her, his gaze at Su Qingli now full of bitter hatred.

Su Qingli’s hand shook so violently that her phone nearly slipped to the floor.

Just then, Pan Yixuan smiled and said, “Everyone, don’t panic. In my opinion, Old Madam Su is simply suffering from a relapse of an old illness. She’s not in mortal danger. I’ll immediately summon the Pan family’s best private physician to treat her.”

The Pan family was one of the top five families in Maple Leaf City, and their private physician was certainly among the most elite medical experts.

So, upon hearing Pan Yixuan’s words, everyone present felt greatly reassured.

Zhang Liping immediately beamed and began to flatter him enthusiastically. “Young Master Pan truly has impressive abilities—so much better than a certain someone!”

Who else could she be referring to but Jiang Hao?

Su Tianming then asked, “Young Master Pan, is your family’s private doctor reliable?”

“Of course he is! Our family’s private physician is a medical professor who studied abroad, and he just so happens to be an expert in cardiopulmonary diseases. He’s published over a hundred medical papers in top journals—no domestic doctor can compare to him!” Pan Yixuan declared, puffing out his chest with pride and arrogance.

“When can he get here?” Su Tianming was so overjoyed that even his tone had grown bright and cheerful.

Pan Yixuan made a show of raising his right hand and holding up a finger. “Ten minutes. I guarantee he’ll be here within ten minutes!”

“That’s wonderful! Thank you, Young Master Pan!” Su Tianming exclaimed, overcome with gratitude.

The other members of the Su family also expressed their thanks to Pan Yixuan, swelling his pride all the more.

Zhang Liping glanced at Su Qingli, who stood beside Jiang Hao, and said, “Just look at what Young Master Pan can do—he can summon a world-class medical professor at a moment’s notice. Qingli, do you still think Young Master Pan isn’t worthy of you? He’s a hundred times better than that useless Jiang Hao!”

“Aunt Zhang, please don’t compare me to that deadbeat—he doesn’t even deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as me,” Pan Yixuan said haughtily, shooting Jiang Hao a disdainful glance.

Su Qingli was truly at her wit’s end with her mother, Zhang Liping, and this eldest son of the Pan family. In such an urgent situation, the two of them were still hell-bent on targeting, belittling, and mocking Jiang Hao. What sort of twisted thinking did they have? Did they not understand that there were priorities to be attended to?

Meanwhile, Jiang Hao suddenly let out a soft laugh.

His laughter made everyone present feel distinctly uneasy, especially Pan Yixuan and Zhang Liping.

“What the hell are you laughing at? Do you find what I said funny?” Pan Yixuan snapped angrily.

Jiang Hao nodded without a hint of embarrassment. “Yes, it’s hilarious. Publishing over a hundred medical papers makes you a world-class medical expert now?”

“Well, it’s still better than you!” Pan Yixuan sneered.

Jiang Hao shook his head and said no more; he had no interest in arguing with the likes of this ignorant young master.

Ten minutes later, a middle-aged man arrived, dressed in a black suit, wearing rimless silver glasses, a native Chinese yet decked out in the manner of a foreigner, carrying an exquisitely crafted silver medical case.

“Professor Jerry, you’re finally here! Please, do everything you can to save Old Madam Su—whatever it takes!” Pan Yixuan greeted the so-called world-class medical professor with utmost deference.

Su Tianming chimed in, “Professor Jerry, my grandmother’s life is in your hands. Please, you must cure her!”

Professor Jerry adjusted his glasses on the bridge of his nose and, in a mixture of awkward Chinese and foreign accent, said, “My surname is Chen—Jerry Chen is my foreign name. As for my Chinese name… best not to mention it. You may call me Professor Jerry. Rest assured, now that I am here, this old lady’s illness will certainly be cured!”

At these words, the Su family members were all beside themselves with delight.

Su Qingli looked anxiously at the unconscious Old Madam Su lying on the ground, her slender hands twisting the hem of her clothes—a clear sign of her deep worry.

Jiang Hao, too, watched silently.

He was genuinely curious to observe the medical skill of this Professor Jerry. Ever since inheriting the legacy of the Flame Emperor, Jiang Hao had not only gained formidable strength but also extraordinary medical knowledge. He had cured Master Bai’s kidney disease, a testament to the fact that his medical skill was by no means ordinary.

But Jiang Hao had never received systematic medical training, so he was now interested in using Professor Jerry as a benchmark, to see where his own skill stood in the context of modern medicine.

Professor Jerry knelt down beside Old Madam Su and opened his medical case.

Inside were rows of fine bottles and jars, along with many intricately designed miniature medical instruments.

At this moment, Professor Jerry was holding an electronic device, examining Old Madam Su’s chest.

“It’s a lung disease,” he suddenly announced.

Su Tianming clapped his hands in amazement. “Professor Jerry, you’re remarkable! My grandmother does indeed suffer from a lung ailment—it’s plagued her for years and never fully healed, always recurring. This is the first time she’s ever fainted, though.”

Professor Jerry said nothing, simply raising a hand to signal Su Tianming to be quiet.

Su Tianming dared not interrupt further and retreated awkwardly to the side.

A little while later, Professor Jerry spoke again. “How rare—Old Madam Su’s lung disease turns out to be Hex’s Lung Syndrome, one of the toughest challenges in our field… Fortunately, Young Master Pan invited me. Without me, this lady would have no choice but to wait for death.”

This declaration left the Su family both anxious and relieved.

Jiang Hao, however, could not help but find it amusing.

Hex’s Lung Syndrome? What nonsense! He had never even heard of such a thing.

As for Old Madam Su’s illness, Jiang Hao could spot the root cause with a single glance—there was absolutely nothing as terrifying or bizarre as this Professor Jerry was making it out to be.
