Chapter 75: He Is My Boyfriend
Jiang Hao pushed Bai Tianyu down with all his strength, but she clung stubbornly to the car door frame with both hands, absolutely refusing to get out.
"Are you really that afraid of the Qian family?"
Bai Tianyu shouted angrily.
"Of course I'm afraid! I'm scared to death!"
Jiang Hao replied nonchalantly. In truth, he wasn't actually afraid; he simply didn't want to invite unnecessary trouble upon himself. Besides, the Qian family's hostility and wrath were no trivial matter.
Jiang Hao was not someone who placed undue importance on pride. Admitting defeat in front of a woman meant nothing to him, especially since Bai Tianyu was nothing more than a stranger with whom he had no ties. There was no way he would make an enemy of a powerful family for a woman he'd known for less than an hour.
"Jiang Hao, I despise you!"
Bai Tianyu cried through gritted teeth.
"Thank you for your contempt," Jiang Hao replied, and with that, he kicked her squarely on the backside, sending her tumbling out of the car.
Without missing a beat, Jiang Hao slammed the door shut, started the engine, and sped off toward the villa in the eastern suburbs.
But who could have guessed? He had barely driven five hundred meters when a police car, its red and blue lights flashing, caught up with him and pulled alongside his Bugatti Veyron.
The police car window rolled down, and a megaphone was thrust out.
"Vehicle FA0186, Bugatti Veyron, pull over immediately, pull over to the side of the road..."
Jiang Hao cursed under his breath and reluctantly brought the car to a stop.
No sooner had he stepped out than two uniformed security officers blocked his path. Bai Tianyu, meanwhile, followed a third officer, grinning broadly as she hurried over.
"Thank you, officers!" Bai Tianyu said sweetly, beaming at them.
The lead officer nodded, then turned to Jiang Hao with a stern expression and said earnestly, "Sir, how could you kick your girlfriend out of the car and leave her alone on the roadside? It's pitch dark—what if she got hurt? Chasing each other on the road is already considered dangerous driving!"
Jiang Hao shot Bai Tianyu a frustrated glance, then pointed at her and explained, "Sorry, I don't know her. She's not my girlfriend."
"I'm his girlfriend! I can prove it! His name is Jiang Hao, he's twenty-six years old. If you don't believe me, look at his ID! I know all about him—how could I not be his girlfriend?"
Bai Tianyu insisted, her expression full of conviction.
All three officers turned to Jiang Hao, their faces a mix of amusement and mockery.
"She's really not my girlfriend…"
Jiang Hao grew anxious, hurrying to explain, but no one present believed him.
The lead officer patted Jiang Hao on the shoulder and said kindly, "All right, that's enough. Young couples argue, but kicking her out of the car is going too far."
A younger officer added, "You're not satisfied with such a beautiful girlfriend? What's wrong with you?"
Jiang Hao was at a loss for words.
Bai Tianyu, meanwhile, climbed straight back into the car, plopping herself into the passenger seat and waving at him with a mischievous smile.
The lead officer gave Jiang Hao a gentle shove. "All right, I’ll pretend I didn’t see anything this time. If you dare drive dangerously again, I’ll have to arrest you! Go on, don’t interfere with our work."
What else could Jiang Hao do? He could only get back in the car, start the engine, and drive Bai Tianyu toward his villa.
"Are you satisfied now?" Jiang Hao asked irritably.
"Of course," Bai Tianyu replied, nodding smugly.
Jiang Hao glanced at her, feeling utterly helpless. This eighteen-year-old heiress was nothing but a walking, talking disaster—one that he couldn't even shake off. It was maddening.
They arrived at the villa. After parking, Jiang Hao and Bai Tianyu got out together. Before Jiang Hao could say a word, Bai Tianyu marched straight into the villa and sprawled out on the sofa in the living room as if she owned the place.
"What's for dinner?" she asked, lying down.
Jiang Hao replied coldly, "There are vegetables and instant noodles in the kitchen. Cook something yourself."
"Don't be so cold. You're rich enough—no matter how much I eat here, you won't go broke," Bai Tianyu said casually, then got up and headed for the kitchen.
Jiang Hao pulled out his phone and called Bai Qiming. He absolutely could not let Bai Tianyu stay here for long, or his troubles would multiply endlessly.
After two rings, the call was answered.
"Hello, Jiang Hao, what is it?" Bai Qiming's voice came through the phone.
Jiang Hao got straight to the point: "Mr. Bai, do you know your daughter has come to Maple Leaf City?"
"What!" Bai Qiming was clearly shocked. His tone turned stern immediately. "That troublemaker! She really knows how to stir up trouble!"
"She's here at my place. I'll send you the address—please send someone to collect her as soon as possible," Jiang Hao said promptly.
To his surprise, Bai Qiming replied angrily, "If she wants to run away from home, then let her! She can stay away!"
Jiang Hao was dumbfounded.
He had called Bai Qiming in hopes that the family would fetch their wayward heiress as soon as possible. Yet now Bai Qiming was saying he didn't want her back—what was he supposed to do?
"Wait, Mr. Bai, your daughter’s here with me. Aren't you worried?" Jiang Hao pressed.
"Worried about her? Ha! I've fed and raised her for years, but does she ever listen to a word I say? She refuses to do anything I ask. So from now on, I'll just pretend I don't have a daughter!"
With that, Bai Qiming hung up.
Jiang Hao stared at his phone, utterly bewildered.
What on earth was this?
With Bai Qiming refusing to take her back, did that mean this heiress was going to freeload at his place indefinitely?
It wasn't that Jiang Hao was worried she'd eat him out of house and home. The problem was simply that it wasn't right for her to stay here.
Just then, a loud crash sounded from the kitchen, followed by Bai Tianyu’s shriek.
Jiang Hao felt a chill run down his spine, goosebumps rising all over. He rushed into the kitchen and saw Bai Tianyu standing helplessly by the stove, while the floor was strewn with shards of a shattered porcelain plate.
"My brand new plate..."
Jiang Hao stared blankly at the pieces littering the floor, momentarily at a loss for words.
