Chapter 91: The Bai Family Gold Card
“It doesn’t matter. I’m not someone who likes to stir up trouble, but I’m certainly not someone who fears it either,” Jiang Hao said casually.
“No matter what, you must be more careful from now on,” Elder Bai reminded him kindly.
Jiang Hao knew the old man meant well, so he said nothing more and simply nodded obediently.
Bai Qiming turned to Bai Tianyu and asked, “How exactly did you end up clashing with Qian Youwei?”
Pouting, Bai Tianyu began to recount everything that had happened that night, from beginning to end.
Only after hearing the whole story did Elder Bai and Bai Qiming finally understand what had really happened.
“This Qian Youwei is far too ostentatious, far too arrogant. He’s grown used to throwing his weight around in the provincial capital, and he’s forgotten that there is always someone greater beyond. He suffered a crushing loss this time. Let’s hope he remembers the lesson,” Bai Qiming said with a sigh.
“Remember the lesson? Please. If he could learn his lesson, pigs would be climbing trees!” Bai Tianyu declared dramatically.
The moment she finished speaking, Bai Qiming shot her another glare.
“I’m not wrong...” Bai Tianyu muttered under her breath.
“You still dare talk back?”
Bai Qiming rose to his feet as if to strike her, and Bai Tianyu immediately darted behind Elder Bai.
With the old man shielding her, Bai Qiming could only sigh and sit back down on the sofa.
Jiang Hao smiled and said, “Elder Bai, Uncle Bai, you really don’t need to worry too much about me. I’ll be fine. To put it bluntly, there’s no one in this world who can deal with me.”
“You truly are formidable, kid. You’ve got real ability,” Bai Qiming said seriously.
After what had happened today, he had finally gained a clear understanding of Jiang Hao’s strength.
He knew very well that, judging by the power Jiang Hao had displayed, there was probably no one in the world who could defeat him in a one-on-one fight.
Leaving aside his terrifying physical strength, that uncanny, almost supernatural skill with poison alone was enough to make him impossible for ordinary people to withstand.
“Oh, right. I prepared a great gift for the two of you.”
A smile appeared on Jiang Hao’s face. He stood, went back to his room, and returned with two glass bottles.
They were the narrow-necked kind commonly seen in laboratories, one filled with a pale green liquid and the other with a pale red one.
Jiang Hao set the pale green potion before Elder Bai, placed the pale red one in front of Bai Qiming, and said, “I knew you were coming, so I specially prepared these two medicines for you. Taking them will be greatly beneficial to your health.”
“What medicine is this? What does it do?” Elder Bai asked with great interest, picking up the pale green bottle in front of him.
Bai Tianyu was curious as well and craned her neck to get a look.
“This is a medicine that prolongs life and preserves vitality. It can effectively improve osteoporosis, muscle degeneration, and various other problems common in old age. The herbs needed to make it are rather precious, so I only managed to prepare this small amount. Still, this one bottle will be enough for you for half a year. After you go back, use a dropper to take one drop a day, dilute it in a cup of water, and then drink it.”
Elder Bai trusted Jiang Hao completely. He repeatedly praised the gift and asked no further questions.
He also understood that a special medicine like this was surely Jiang Hao’s own secret formula. If he insisted on probing into it, that would only be crossing a line.
Bai Qiming then asked, “And what about my bottle? What does mine do? I’m already in good health. There’s no need for me to take medicine, is there?”
“Uncle Bai, I won’t explain your potion in too much detail. Once you go back and dilute it the same way before drinking it, you’ll feel its effects for yourself,” Jiang Hao said with a grin.
Hearing that only made Bai Qiming even more curious.
But he knew better than to press further, so he suppressed his curiosity and nodded.
“What about me? What about me?” Bai Tianyu asked hurriedly.
Jiang Hao frowned at her. “What about you?”
“My grandpa and my dad both got gifts. Don’t tell me I get nothing? That’s not fair!” Bai Tianyu protested unhappily.
Jiang Hao replied irritably, “For all this time, you’ve been eating my food, staying under my roof, and using my things, and you still have the nerve to ask me for a gift? How is your skin so thick?”
Elder Bai and Bai Qiming burst into laughter, while Bai Tianyu wore a thoroughly sullen expression.
Then Elder Bai said to Bai Qiming, “Jiang Hao has given us gifts. We can’t very well give him nothing in return. Qiming, take it out.”
That thing?
Jiang Hao looked at Bai Qiming in bewilderment.
Bai Qiming pulled out his wallet and took from it a gleaming golden card, emblazoned with a large character meaning Bai.
“This is...?” Jiang Hao asked in confusion.
Bai Qiming pressed the gold card into Jiang Hao’s hand and said, “This is a pass of the Bai family. Every member of our family has one. If you ever come to the provincial capital in the future, then in any shop that belongs to our family, you may use this card and pay nothing at all. And if you show it, others will understand that you are one of us.”
At those words, warmth stirred faintly in Jiang Hao’s heart.
This card carried too much weight.
It was clearly something only members of the Bai family were entitled to possess, and yet Elder Bai had asked Bai Qiming to give one to Jiang Hao.
“No, I can’t accept this...” Jiang Hao declined again and again.
But Bai Qiming put on a stern face and said seriously, “I’m giving it to you. If you refuse it, wouldn’t that be too disrespectful to me? Besides, it’s really nothing extraordinary. It’s only useful in the provincial capital. In other cities, it’s basically worthless.”
Since Bai Qiming had put it that way, what else could Jiang Hao say? He could only accept it with a wry smile.
After that, Jiang Hao personally cooked and prepared a lavish lunch for Elder Bai, Bai Qiming, and Bai Tianyu.
When they had finished eating and chatted a while longer, Elder Bai and Bai Qiming rose to take their leave.
Naturally, Bai Tianyu was leaving with them as well.
She seemed somewhat reluctant to go, but under Bai Qiming’s stern gaze, she could only obediently follow behind and get into the Rolls-Royce.
“Jiang Hao, if you ever have time, you must come to the provincial capital and visit!” Bai Tianyu shouted as she rolled down the car window and waved at him.
“We’ll talk about it if I’m free,” Jiang Hao replied perfunctorily.
The moment she heard that, Bai Tianyu huffed, turned around in a fury, then somehow pulled out a half-empty bottle of mineral water from somewhere inside the car and hurled it straight at him.
Of course, Jiang Hao was not hit. He casually caught it with perfect accuracy.
Watching the Rolls-Royce disappear into the distance, Jiang Hao let out a long breath, then turned and returned to the villa in the eastern suburbs.
For the time being, the matter of the Qian family had been resolved. Whether trouble would arise in the future remained unknown.
As for the Bai family, they likely would not be returning to Mapleleaf City anytime soon.
As the saying went, when there is no trouble, the body feels light.
Jiang Hao was in an exceedingly good mood now.
What was more, today he had vented a great deal of pent-up anger—and made a tidy profit besides.
