Chapter 90: Departing with Grief and Resentment
Seeing how readily Qian Kanglong agreed, Jiang Hao immediately realized he had asked for too little. The Qian family truly lived up to its reputation of immense wealth—six hundred million yuan meant nothing to them!
However, since he had already named his price, Jiang Hao wouldn’t go back on his word. To do so would be beneath him. But he continued, “Don’t get ahead of yourself—I’m not finished. To cure Young Master Qian, it’s six hundred million. For the other six poisoned bodyguards, ten million each.”
Those poisoned, apart from Qian Youwei, included the two bodyguards he’d brought for trouble the other day, and four of the six retired special forces soldiers from today—making exactly six.
This time, Qian Kanglong hesitated briefly, but soon nodded. “Alright, that’s fine.”
With a cold laugh, Jiang Hao said, “As expected of the Qian family—‘Qian’ means ‘money’ after all. Your wealth could rival a nation’s.”
Qian Kanglong could hear the sarcasm, but he drew a deep breath and forced himself to say nothing.
Old Master Bai urged, “Since you’ve come to an agreement, hurry and cure them. Once that’s done, we can have a proper talk.”
“Very well, sir, please wait a moment,” Jiang Hao replied with a smile, then raised his left hand.
Snap, snap, snap, snap, snap, snap, snap!
A series of finger snaps left everyone present baffled. Jiang Hao had snapped his fingers to poison them earlier—was he now snapping to cure them? Was it really that simple?
Only Old Master Bai, glancing at Jiang Hao’s black-gloved right hand and his white-gloved left, seemed to realize something, his expression thoughtful.
After the seventh snap, the four retired special forces soldiers were the first to awaken and stand. They had been poisoned for the shortest time, and with their excellent physical condition, they recovered immediately.
Next, Qian Youwei’s two bodyguards opened their eyes, one after the other.
Finally, the Qian family’s eldest son, Qian Youwei, coughed and gradually regained consciousness.
Seeing this, Qian Kanglong was overjoyed. He hurried over to his son and anxiously asked, “Youwei, are you alright? Are you feeling unwell anywhere?”
Qian Youwei, still dazed, sat up on the stretcher. As soon as he spotted Jiang Hao, he let out a terrified scream, rolled off the stretcher, and scrambled backward on the ground. Moving away on his backside, he quickly covered himself in dust, looking utterly disheveled.
“Don’t kill me… Please don’t kill me… I was wrong… I won’t dare again…” Qian Youwei wailed in terror, snot and tears streaming down his face.
Qian Kanglong looked at his beloved son with aching heart and tried to soothe him. “Youwei, don’t be afraid. He won’t do anything to you now…”
He had originally wanted to say that Jiang Hao didn’t dare touch him now, but feared provoking Jiang Hao, so he changed his words at the last moment.
Hearing this, Qian Youwei gradually calmed down. He then threw himself into his father’s arms, sobbing, “Dad… I don’t want to get married… I won’t marry Bai Tianyu… Anyone but her, I’ll marry anyone else…”
Upon hearing this, Bai Tianyu jumped with excitement and let out a triumphant cheer. But she was immediately silenced by a fierce glare from Bai Qiming and quickly stood properly.
Qian Kanglong sighed helplessly. “Alright, we’ll do as you wish. However you want it, that’s how it will be…”
Jiang Hao grew impatient and urged, “Patriarch Qian, you can bond with your son at home later. For now, hand over the money!”
Qian Kanglong shot Jiang Hao a resentful look, then waved to his secretary, Lv Yanling.
Lv Yanling promptly retrieved a briefcase from the car, opened it, took out several bank cards, and after a few quick operations, hurried over to Jiang Hao.
She stopped more than a meter away—she simply didn’t dare get any closer, terrified that Jiang Hao might poison her, too.
“This anonymous bank card contains one hundred and twenty million. The password is the last six digits of the card number. You can check it now if you want.”
Jiang Hao took the card and slipped it into his pocket, replying coldly, “No need to check. But if I find the amount is wrong later, I’ll be coming to the provincial capital to seek justice from your family.”
Hearing this, Lv Yanling trembled in fright. She didn’t dare linger another moment before Jiang Hao and hurried back to Qian Kanglong’s side.
Jiang Hao then turned a cold gaze on Qian Kanglong, Qian Youwei, and the cluster of bodyguards around them, unceremoniously issuing his order to leave.
“The poison’s been cured, and you’ve paid. There’s no reason for you to linger here any longer, is there?”
Qian Kanglong gave Jiang Hao one last look, then waved his hand. “Get in the cars. We’re leaving!”
“Patriarch…” one of the retired special forces soldiers muttered indignantly, but Qian Kanglong silenced him with a glare.
The Qian family’s group boarded their cars. The two black BMWs sped off into the distance and soon vanished down the road.
Inside the car, the same retired special forces soldier finally spoke up, “Patriarch, are we just going to let this go?”
“Of course not!” Qian Kanglong, flushed with anger, slammed a fist against the car door, only to wince in pain and quickly withdraw his hand.
After a moment, he gritted his teeth and said, “We suffered a huge loss this time, but that doesn’t mean the Qian family will let it go. However, that Jiang Hao is no ordinary man—we can’t confront him head-on.”
“Then…”
“We’ll head back first and devise a plan to deal with him!” Qian Kanglong replied grimly.
In the eastern suburb villa, Old Master Bai was already seated on the living room sofa, Bai Qiming beside him. Bai Tianyu brought over two cups of tea with a smile and set them down before them, then tried to sit as well.
But before she could touch the sofa, Bai Qiming barked, “Who told you to sit? Stand!”
“Yes, sir…” Bai Tianyu answered helplessly and obediently stood aside, hands at her sides.
Jiang Hao smiled and asked, “Sir, how are you feeling?”
He had asked this before, but it did no harm to ask again now.
Old Master Bai waved his hand. “I’m fine, completely fine. My illness is gone, thanks to you, Mr. Jiang.”
“Just call me Jiang Hao,” Jiang Hao replied with a smile.
In the presence of Old Master Bai and Bai Qiming, Jiang Hao had shed all the razor-sharp edge he’d shown to Qian Kanglong, making both men feel at ease and even more satisfied with him.
Old Master Bai took a sip of tea and went on, “Jiang Hao, you’ve made a serious enemy of the Qian family this time.”
