Su Qingli could no longer contain herself and asked hesitantly, “Then… Professor Jerry, how should this Hex Pulmonary Disease be treated?”

“Of course, electroshock therapy,” Professor Jerry replied without the slightest hesitation, then explained, “Hex Pulmonary Disease is an obstructive lung disease caused by reduced alveolar activity, leading to diminished lung function. It’s a rather rare geriatric illness. By stimulating the lungs with a mild electric current, we can activate the alveoli, greatly improving the condition!”

At these words, everyone present felt as if a light had dawned.

But Jiang Hao suddenly burst into laughter.

He simply couldn’t help himself; the professor’s words were just too ridiculous.

Old Madam Su’s lung condition was plainly due to years of frailty and exposure to cold, which weakened her lung function. With more sunlight, exercise, and a healthy lifestyle, her illness could gradually improve and even be cured. Applying electrical currents would only worsen her condition—how could it possibly help?

This Professor Jerry was treating Old Madam Su’s illness and very life as a joke! If he really went ahead with electroshock therapy, the old lady, who might have had a chance of rescue, would certainly die right here!

“That’s enough! Jiang Hao, are you out of your mind? What’s so funny?” Su Tianming spun around and yelled at Jiang Hao.

Pan Yixuan chimed in with mockery, “Don’t mind him, Young Master Su. This brat is just causing a scene because I invited Professor Jerry. With such a narrow-minded character, I can’t imagine how he’s worthy of Qingli.”

At once, everyone cast looks of contempt and disdain at Jiang Hao.

Professor Jerry, however, turned with a serious expression and asked, “Sir, do you find an issue with my treatment plan?”

“Of course there’s an issue! If you use electroshock therapy as you say, Old Madam Su will die by your hand!” Jiang Hao replied bluntly.

Professor Jerry’s face darkened. Adjusting his silver-rimmed spectacles, he retorted angrily, “Nonsense! Utter nonsense! I’ve already treated two Hex Pulmonary Disease patients from other countries with electroshock therapy, and both responded very well!”

“That was just luck. And how can you be sure that Old Madam Su’s lung disease is really this so-called Hex Pulmonary Disease?” Jiang Hao retorted immediately.

“Of course I’m sure! Who’s the professor here—you or me? On what grounds do you judge me? Who are you? How many medical papers have you published? What medical achievements do you have? Are you even a medical professional?” Professor Jerry’s barrage of pointed questions came fast and sharp.

Yet Jiang Hao simply replied calmly, “You don’t have to listen to me. If you kill her, it has nothing to do with me.” With that, he stepped back and gestured for them to proceed.

Professor Jerry snorted coldly in anger and turned away, ignoring Jiang Hao. Pan Yixuan consoled him, “Professor Jerry, don’t stoop to his level. He’s just a worthless freeloader. Please focus on treating Old Madam Su!”

“Yes, yes, don’t waste time arguing with him. Please treat my grandmother,” Su Tianming urged repeatedly.

Professor Jerry nodded, then took two small portable defibrillators from his medical kit. He adjusted the current, held the devices to Old Madam Su’s chest, and pressed the switch.

Bang!

With a muffled sound, Old Madam Su’s body convulsed, as if springs had been fitted to her back ready to bounce her off the ground.

Professor Jerry pressed the switch again, and her body shuddered once more.

“Jiang Hao, is this electroshock therapy really dangerous? Could it really kill my grandmother?” Su Qingli asked in a low, worried whisper.

Jiang Hao hadn’t intended to speak to her, but seeing the deep worry and concern on her face, he sighed and said quietly, “Of course it’s dangerous. Whether or not it kills her depends on how many times she’s shocked—just when she can’t take any more. But that’s none of my concern. Why should I care?”

Hearing this, Su Qingli grew even more anxious, bitterness flooding her heart. She could sense the resentment in Jiang Hao’s words toward her. She longed to explain the truth about her mother conspiring with surgeon Wang Jun’an to take his kidney, to clear up the misunderstanding, but now was not the time.

Bang!

Another jolt from the defibrillator sent Old Madam Su’s body into spasms. That was the third shock.

Suddenly, Jiang Hao raised his voice, “Are you going to keep going? Three more times and Old Madam Su will die for sure!”

Professor Jerry’s hand holding the device froze slightly.

But Su Tianming cursed at Jiang Hao with venom, “Damn you! You just want my grandmother dead, don’t you? How did the Su family end up with a son-in-law like you!”

Pan Yixuan pulled Su Tianming back. “Don’t mind him. Saving Old Madam Su is the priority.” Then, turning to Professor Jerry, he said, “Professor, don’t let this scoundrel affect you. Please continue—we trust your medical expertise!”

“OK!” Professor Jerry nodded and administered another shock.

Old Madam Su still didn’t wake, but this time, the muscles in her cheeks began to twitch.

“It’s working!” Professor Jerry said excitedly.

With that, he placed the defibrillator on her chest once more. This was the fourth shock—just one away from the final three Jiang Hao had warned about.

Bang!

Old Madam Su’s body jolted. Suddenly, she coughed violently, opened her eyes, and began to breathe heavily.

“Wha… What happened to me…” she asked in a trembling voice.

Seeing her awake, everyone present was elated—even Su Qingli’s face lit up with joy.

Professor Jerry, full of pride, put away the device and declared loftily, “Ladies and gentlemen, I did not fail you. I have revived the old lady!”

“Thank you, Professor Jerry! You’re a living miracle worker!” Su Tianming exclaimed, gripping his hand in gratitude.

Pan Yixuan, meanwhile, gloated at Jiang Hao, “Did you see that? This is the skill of our Pan family’s private doctor! Didn’t you just say Professor Jerry would kill her? And what happened? Not only did he not kill her—she woke up! That’s the difference between us, Jiang Hao. I doubt your feeble mind can comprehend it!”

With that, Pan Yixuan burst into loud laughter.
