Chapter 29: The Eldest Young Master of the Zhao Family
At the sound of this voice, everyone turned their heads to look. A young man dressed in a blue-gray suit strode confidently into the sales hall, heading briskly in their direction. He wasn’t alone; at his side walked a strikingly beautiful female secretary. The moment he entered, every salesperson in the hall—including Xiao Li, the female sales agent—cast him looks of surprise and respect.
For this young man was none other than the eldest son of the Zhao family, Zhao Ziyun.
Maple Leaf City boasted several powerful, wealthy families. The Su family was relatively unremarkable among them, while the Pan family ranked within the top five. The Zhao family, however, was different. Their economic power was extraordinary, and with the real estate industry booming in recent years, their grip on the city’s property market had earned them immense profits and elevated their status even further. By now, the Zhao family was either the wealthiest or second wealthiest in Maple Leaf City, indisputably above the Pan family.
“Welcome, General Manager!”
“Good afternoon, General Manager!”
All the sales staff, regardless of gender, bowed in unison to greet Zhao Ziyun. Even Zhou Chen, who had just been arguing heatedly with Jiang Hao, had to rein in his arrogance and respectfully welcome Zhao Ziyun. “General Manager, welcome! What brings you here today? If you’d only let us know you were coming…”
“Oh? So, as the general manager, I need to announce myself every time I want to drop by one of my own properties?” Zhao Ziyun replied with a hint of displeasure.
Zhou Chen immediately broke into a cold sweat, goosebumps rising on his arms. He hastily shook his head and stammered, “General Manager, that’s not what I meant, I…”
Zhao Ziyun couldn’t be bothered to listen to his explanation and waved him off impatiently.
Next, his gaze settled on Pan Yixuan, whose expression was somewhat complicated. Smiling, Zhao Ziyun asked, “Pan Yixuan, what brings you to the Zhao family’s sales center? Are you here to buy a house? If so, I’ll be sure to give you a discount!”
Pan Yixuan stepped forward, forcing a smile. “You misunderstand, Brother Zhao. I’m not here to buy a house—just came to see Zhou Chen and have a chat.”
Zhao Ziyun glanced between Pan Yixuan and Zhou Chen, then smiled knowingly. “Pan Yixuan, as the young master of the Pan family, you seem to have quite a good relationship with our sales manager. Why not let Zhou Chen join your Pan family? Let him work for you?”
Zhou Chen’s face instantly turned ashen at these words.
Pan Yixuan’s smile grew even more awkward, and he waved his hands quickly. “Brother Zhao, you must be joking. Zhou Chen is such an outstanding talent, how could I compete with you for him? It would be unthinkable to poach him for our Pan family!”
Though the words seemed polite enough, anyone paying attention would notice Zhou Chen was pale with fright. The expression on Pan Yixuan’s face was equally unsightly—his forced smile couldn’t have been more uncomfortable.
All the while, Jiang Hao watched in silence, observing carefully. From the exchanges between Zhao Ziyun, Zhou Chen, and Pan Yixuan, he could tell that Zhao Ziyun didn’t like Zhou Chen and had a poor relationship with Pan Yixuan as well. Otherwise, their words wouldn’t have been so barbed.
“And who is this?” Zhao Ziyun’s gaze now fell on Jiang Hao, who stood opposite Pan Yixuan and Zhou Chen, his interest piqued.
Xiao Li, the saleswoman, promptly replied, “General Manager, this is Mr. Jiang. He’s the one interested in buying the villa the chairman listed here.”
“Oh? Really? After all these months, it’s finally about to be sold.” Zhao Ziyun’s face broke into a pleased smile as he turned to Jiang Hao.
Jiang Hao replied calmly, “I made a wager with your sales manager Zhou Chen and Pan Yixuan, the young master of the Pan family. If I can buy the most expensive property here, they will have to kneel and kowtow to me three times. If I fail, then I will kneel and kowtow to them three times.”
“I see,” Zhao Ziyun quickly grasped the situation, his interest in Jiang Hao deepening, his smile broadening.
He continued, “Well, what are we waiting for? Xiao Li, bring the card machine and the contract. Let’s handle the formalities for Mr. Jiang right now.”
“Yes, sir.” Xiao Li hurried off and soon returned with the card terminal, a thick contract, and various other documents.
Zhou Chen suddenly spoke up, “General Manager, this guy’s just here to cause trouble. Look at how shabby he looks—no way he can afford a villa.”
Jiang Hao replied mildly, “Manager Zhou, I don’t appreciate that. My clothes may be simple, but does what I wear determine what I can buy?”
Zhao Ziyun glanced at Jiang Hao and then laughed, saying to Zhou Chen, “Indeed, Manager Zhou, you can’t mock clients or question their financial standing. If you start kicking out customers for dressing plainly, how will we do business?”
“But, I—”
Zhou Chen tried to protest, but Pan Yixuan suddenly stopped him.
“No need to say more—let him pay! I refuse to believe this pretty boy can afford a thirty-million villa! If he can’t buy it, he loses.”
Indeed, whether Jiang Hao could afford the thirty-million villa was all that mattered; everything else was irrelevant.
“Go ahead and swipe, Mr. Jiang. I’ve set the transaction amount—thirty million. Please confirm before paying,” Xiao Li said, a bit flustered as she placed the card machine before Jiang Hao.
With a smile, Jiang Hao inserted his bank card, swiped, confirmed the amount, and entered his password.
As Jiang Hao calmly entered his payment code, Zhou Chen began to panic. Could it be that Jiang Hao really could afford the villa?
“Don’t worry, he’s just putting on an act. He doesn’t have the money—no way,” Pan Yixuan gritted through his teeth.
Hearing this, Jiang Hao turned to Pan Yixuan and said, “I truly don’t understand why you’re so confident in your judgment. Are you brainless, or just missing a few screws?”
With that, Jiang Hao entered the final digit of his password.
In the next moment, a pleasant electronic female voice rang out across the sales hall.
“Payment complete. Thirty million credited.”
A stunned silence fell over the room.
After several seconds, there came a collective gasp.
The payment had gone through!
This meant that Jiang Hao had truly bought the villa worth thirty million.
