Having wasted a precious Escape Talisman to flee, the demonic cultivator Liu Anhua was filled with regret and anguish. Escape Talismans were lifelines for demonic cultivators, reserved only for the exceptionally gifted among them. He had never imagined his own would be squandered so easily.

Gu Feng’s face flashed through his mind, his fists clenching until his knuckles cracked. He swore to one day personally torment Gu Feng to death. Meanwhile, the image of Gu Yan awakened another desire—a possessive craving. He vowed to seize Gu Yan, to toy with her, and then leave her wishing for death.

Seething with rage, Liu Anhua flew over a village. On the sign at the entrance, three characters read: Shuangshan Village. Watching the busy villagers, all his fury erupted. With a wave of evil energy, he descended upon the village in a storm of wrath, hacking down everyone in sight—anything alive was slaughtered.

Desperate screams echoed through Shuangshan Village. The unscathed desperately sought places to hide. Blood stained every corner, and the stench of it was carried on the wind. The entire village was soon drowned in a deadly silence.

Guided by the system’s map, Gu Feng rushed toward Shuangshan Village. By the time he arrived, Liu Anhua’s massacre was nearly complete.

A baby was clutched in Liu Anhua’s hand, its fragile neck squeezed until the bones gave a sickening crack. Blood gushed from the infant’s mouth and nose as it died pitifully in his grip.

As Gu Feng flew toward Liu Anhua, his body trembled as he looked down. The entire village was littered with blood-soaked corpses—even those who had hidden in cellars were discovered and slaughtered by Liu Anhua’s soul sense. Of all Shuangshan Village, only the hunters who were out had escaped death. The rest had been utterly butchered.

This scene threw Gu Feng’s spirit into turbulence and chaos. He hated Liu Anhua with every fiber of his being, and his hatred for all evil deepened.

Gu Feng charged at Liu Anhua at full speed.

Liu Anhua noticed Gu Feng, immediately recognizing him. He never expected Gu Feng would give chase. Confirming there were no other masters around, Liu Anhua licked his lips and rose into the air to meet him.

The two clashed mid-air.

Gu Feng’s eyes were blood-red as he glared at Liu Anhua, wasting no time before launching his attack.

Liu Anhua, surprised by such directness, flashed a bloodthirsty smile. He intended to savor Gu Feng’s torment.

A vicious slash!

A surge of power accompanied his strike, more formidable than even a second-tier Spirit Master.

Liu Anhua was shocked. The aura was that of a level-seven Spirit Practitioner, so how could such terrifying power erupt from him? Then he noticed Gu Feng’s greatsword wreathed in flames—an artifact!

Artifacts were rare in the Great Wilderness. Even as a prodigy among demonic cultivators, Liu Anhua had never acquired one. Of course, demonic cultivators lacked artifacts, but they had their own wicked weapons, forged from the lives of countless beings.

Gu Feng’s power startled Liu Anhua but hadn’t yet instilled fear. With a surge of evil energy, Liu Anhua drew his weapon—a wickedly curved saber with a hooked tip, its arc like a drawn bow and the hook shining with a sinister, dark glow.

The system analyzed it: the dark glow was a deadly poison.

The saber radiated dark energy; clearly, it was a demonic weapon.

Gu Feng did not fear it, bringing his greatsword down with all his strength.

The force cleaved the air, generating a gust of wind that made Liu Anhua’s black robes billow loudly.

Still, Liu Anhua was not alarmed. Saber and wielder seemed fused as one as he slashed diagonally upward to meet Gu Feng’s greatsword.

The strike warped the air itself. Even with the naked eye, Gu Feng could sense the terrifying power.

Clang!

The demonic weapon struck the greatsword, the force overwhelming. Gu Feng’s greatsword was split open, and he staggered backward from the impact.

Liu Anhua’s jet-black face betrayed no emotion, but his eyes locked onto Gu Feng, seizing the opportunity to slash at his arm.

He did not approach Gu Feng directly; instead, a wave of evil energy shot toward Gu Feng’s arm.

Confident, Liu Anhua sheathed his saber and watched the evil energy fly. He could already envision the scene: Gu Feng’s arm severed, blood spraying, limb and body separated.

But Gu Feng remained calm. He had not immediately triggered the sixth Death Opportunity because he wanted to test the limits of his own combat power. Battle experience could only be gained through constant fighting. To become truly strong, one had to fight.

Gu Feng also understood: the Death Opportunity was a last resort, not a universal solution. He had to be its master, not the system. To do that, he needed true strength.

He raised the greatsword horizontally, easily blocking the evil energy.

Liu Anhua paused in surprise, then understood: his opponent wielded an artifact, which was immune to evil energy. Ordinary weapons could never withstand such corruption—his minor miscalculation had cost him.

Gu Feng unleashed a Heavy Slash with his greatsword, aiming at Liu Anhua.

Driven by the artifact, the attack was even more powerful than with his short sword.

Gu Feng knew he lacked skills, but now, with enough coins, he immediately purchased a skill manual: “Triple Strike Slash.”

This martial technique, suitable for any class, channeled spirit energy through the body to unleash bursts of terrifying speed. The energy would break and explode three times; each break was a dash, each burst a slash. The force accumulated with each, and the third strike would double in power.

Liu Anhua easily neutralized the Heavy Slash. Frowning, he decided to close in and personally sever Gu Feng’s limbs.

As Liu Anhua charged, Gu Feng shouted, “Perfect opportunity!” and unleashed the Triple Strike Slash.

Spirit energy churned in a strange pattern; blinding speed erupted—first strike.

Liu Anhua parried, but the power sent him reeling backward.

The next burst of speed brought Gu Feng close again—second strike.

Sparks flew as weapons clashed, and this time Liu Anhua was hurled through the air, his arm numb and nearly losing his grip on the saber. He stared at Gu Feng in disbelief, stunned: “What skill is this?”

A third surge of speed—Gu Feng dashed toward the still-stunned Liu Anhua and unleashed the third strike.

Boom!

The air exploded. Shockwaves rippled outward, the terrifying pressure suffocating Liu Anhua. This was the power only a fourth-tier Spirit Master could wield.

But Liu Anhua was only a second-tier Spirit Master. The strange powers of a demonic cultivator made him formidable, but he was no match for a fourth-tier master.

Liu Anhua shouted in fury, “Damn it!” While despair gripped him: “Is this the end?”

At that moment, a calm and confident voice sounded behind Gu Feng: “Stop.”

A terrifying aura instantly locked onto Gu Feng.

On the system map, a purple figure was rapidly approaching.

Sensing the familiar presence, Liu Anhua’s face broke into a relieved smile. He muttered, “Master.” As he looked at Gu Feng, his eyes grew cruel—he would be sure to repay him for nearly killing him.

But then, he saw Gu Feng’s face twist into a triumphant smile.

A sudden sense of doom struck Liu Anhua, his expression changing dramatically. He was about to yell out when—

Gu Feng commanded, “Sixth Death Opportunity, self-destruct—now!”
