Chapter Ninety-Six: Your Surname Is Mu
Gu Feng was wrapped by the thorny vines into a cocoon-like mass. Strangely, he did not feel short of breath. The wounds pricked by the thorns began to grow hot and itchy, then gradually turned sharp and stinging, and the itching only became more intense, as though countless ants were tearing at him all at once. He wanted to scratch, but there was nothing to scratch. It was unbearable.
The giant tree laughed heartily. “Brat, you scratched me before. Now you know what it feels like to be scratched, don’t you? Don’t worry, you won’t die. You’ll stay fully conscious the whole time and endure this maddening itch. Just wait. In the end, you’ll be begging me to kill you.”
This was naked revenge.
Gu Feng stiffened his neck and said, “Useless. I’m not afraid of a little itch.”
“Hahaha! Keep pretending. Let’s see how long you can hold out.”
What frustrated Gu Feng even more was that the tree seemed to know his self-destruction range was fifty meters. It stopped at fifty-one meters.
“No good. I need some way to get closer to that tree.”
The giant tree roared with laughter. “Hahaha! Little sapling, wasn’t it delicious getting a taste of my piss? Want another bite?”
“You disgusting human! No wonder the air reeks so badly. So you pissed on me.”
“Hmph. If you’re not convinced, bite me. I not only pissed on you, I also spat for you to eat.”
“Disgusting human! You pissed on me, so I’ll make you eat filth.”
“Eat filth? Hmph. Then hurry up and let me get closer to you!”
Caw-caw.
“What the hell was that sound?”
Gu Feng, forcing himself through the pain, heard a strange noise and instantly felt a bad premonition.
At that moment, the thorny vines that bound him like a cocoon began to part above his head.
Before long, his head was exposed.
Gu Feng opened his eyes and looked up, then cried out, “What is that?”
A gigantic rear end.
“No!”
Gu Feng let out a heart-rending howl.
A mountain-sized pile of filth squeezed out of that rear end.
The giant tree laughed wildly. “Hahaha! Eat shit, you wretched human!”
Smack!
A huge lump of excrement slammed straight onto Gu Feng’s head.
“Ugh!”
The stench was so vile he nearly passed out.
Psssh.
After defecating, a stream of urine followed like a waterfall, crashing down in a furious torrent.
Swoosh, splash, crash.
At least it washed the filth off Gu Feng.
Caw-caw.
The monstrous creature flapped its wings and flew away. Each beat sent gales raging across the air. Gu Feng stared after it, stunned. What was that? It was actually a duck, as enormous as a mountain.
“Hahaha! Human brat, how does the taste of piss and filth feel? Let me tell you, that stinking old duck doesn’t have much skill, but the shit he drops is disgustingly foul, and the smell of his piss is impossible to wash away. It’s already seeped into your blood, hahaha!”
“Little sapling, so what? I’m not afraid. If you’ve got the guts, then eat me!”
“Eat you?”
The giant tree pondered for a moment. “Not a bad idea. Too bad you’ve already been contaminated by that stinking old duck. You’d better keep enduring the torment!”
“Little sapling, let me tell you a secret.”
Then Gu Feng moved his lips slightly.
“What secret? Speak louder.”
“I’m talking about becoming a god...”
Gu Feng was just making things up on the fly. As long as he could get within fifty meters of the tree, that was enough.
“Become a god? Brat, hurry up and tell me what you know!”
Excited, the giant tree actually shifted Gu Feng closer to itself.
Gu Feng was overjoyed. “Now’s my chance.”
He roared, “I said I’m going to blow you up, you damn little sapling!”
“Self-destruction!”
Boom!
Before the tree could even finish mocking him, it felt a vast force of annihilation enveloping it.
“No!”
The tree truly was formidable. That destructive power did not turn it to ash immediately.
“Damn it! What is this power?”
The giant tree fought with all its might against the force of destruction.
Inside the rebirth space, Gu Feng looked at the full form of the supertree, towering like a colossal peak, and felt a little unnerved.
He had never imagined he would have the nerve to wage war against a giant tree of such scale.
In the end, the force of destruction prevailed. The tree was ground to pieces and scattered into a sky full of ash.
Ding! Completion of the stacked death mission. One major level increase, one million points, ten million gold coins, and one hundred additional points of wood resistance.
Gu Feng revived on the spot and looked down. Within a radius of over a hundred miles, the land had become a bottomless sinkhole.
He clicked his tongue in amazement. That level sixty-two tree was far too outrageous. Was level sixty really that terrifying?
Then he suddenly remembered the stinking old duck that had pissed and defecated on him. Gu Feng roared, “System, find that stinking old duck for me. I want to kill it and boil it for soup.”
The system replied speechlessly, “Let the stinking old duck go. I’ll tell you this: that duck is one major level stronger than that tree.”
Gu Feng blurted out, “What? One major level higher? Then wouldn’t that put it above level seventy?”
“Exactly. Are you still planning to kill it? You can’t. Before you even have a chance to anger it, it will already have swallowed you like a worm.”
Gu Feng’s expression darkened. His mood was terrible.
Although the stench was gone after his rebirth, a knot still remained in his heart. Gu Feng swore that if he did not untie that knot, he would be unable to eat or sleep in peace.
Ding! A powerful lifeform has been detected approaching. Recommend leaving immediately.
Even the system was urging him to run. How could Gu Feng still dare to stay?
He shot into the air. After his major level increase, his speed surged by dozens of times, and in the blink of an eye he vanished from where he stood.
Not long after, a giant ant arrived at the edge of the sinkhole and muttered while staring into the abyss, “That damned tree is actually dead. Who did this?”
“Brat, fly away according to my instructions. Otherwise, don’t even think about leaving.”
Since the system had said as much, what else could Gu Feng do but obey? If he resisted, he would only suffer losses.
Four hours later, Gu Feng felt as though he had broken through a barrier. He turned back and saw endless mountains and rivers. Where was the towering tree? Where was the stinking old duck?
“Old man, where did those things go? I never expected a place this mysterious to exist in such a backward land as the Great Qin Empire.”
“When your strength is greater, you’ll understand. That place does not belong to Great Qin. There are other entrances elsewhere as well.”
“Fine. Once I’m stronger, I’ll go back and kill that stinking old duck and make old duck soup.”
After flying onward for a while, several young men and women blocked Gu Feng’s path.
One of them, a youth with his nose practically in the sky and clearly ignorant of the world, asked in a condescending tone, “Brat, since you came out from inside, did you see this person?”
He handed Gu Feng a portrait. Gu Feng took one look and shouted, “Yan’er!”
He grabbed the youth by the collar and demanded angrily, “Tell me, where is this person?”
“What are you doing? Let go of Brother Mu Cui at once!”
“Let him go, or we’ll kill you!”
The others, seeing Mu Cui seized by Gu Feng, drew their swords and acted recklessly, as if Gu Feng would suffer for disobeying them.
Thinking of Gu Yan’s safety, Gu Feng lost all patience. In a cold voice, he said, “Tell me where she is.”
