Chapter 77: Money Makes Things Easier
Xiaoxue was so shocked that her mouth hung open. She hastily covered it with her hand, her whole body trembling, not knowing what her mistress would do. Dou Ying abruptly flung aside the mosquito net and saw four naked bodies entwined together, especially the man, whose movements were particularly vigorous. Looking closer at the body beneath the man, wasn’t that her own daughter?
A sharp cry broke out—at that moment, Xue Wen reached her climax, unable to suppress her scream. Gu Feng also trembled, and a torrent of soldiers finally surged forth, all rushing into Xue Wen.
Dou Ying stared at Xue Ziyan, pointing a trembling finger at her, “You… you all…”
Xue Wen was so furious she could only tremble, unable to form words.
Xue Ziyan was about to speak when Dou Ying, in a rage, turned and ran, heading straight for Xue Wuwei to inform him about what she had just witnessed.
Xiaoxue, terrified, slipped out as well, quietly closing the door behind her.
The three women, after everything was done, rolled their eyes at Gu Feng as he toyed with himself.
Xue Ziyan complained, “Can’t you say something? What are we supposed to do next?”
Gu Feng caressed her chest and replied, “What else can we do? Take things as they come! Now that they know about our relationship, what’s there to fear?”
“Oh, by the way, why haven’t there been any movements from the Feng family in Bailing City or the City Lord’s Mansion?”
Mentioning this, Xue Ziyan’s face grew anxious. In a low voice, she said, “It takes at least twenty-four hours for even a spiritual master to travel from Bailing City to Upper Central City. Only seventeen hours have passed; in a few more, they’ll be here. What do you plan to do then?”
Gu Feng frowned, troubled. He knew that whether it was the Feng family or the City Lord’s Mansion, those coming would be top experts, and not a small number at that. At a time like this, self-detonation was of limited use—unless all of them stood within thirty meters. But how could that be possible?
Dou Ying found Xue Wuwei and angrily recounted what she had seen.
Xue Wuwei, upon hearing it, shouted, “Gu Feng is back?” and rushed off toward Xue Wen’s residence.
Dou Ying stomped her foot at his retreating figure, then hurried after him.
Gu Feng and his companions had already dressed and left the room, only to see Xue Wuwei running toward them from afar.
Gu Feng strode forward and called out loudly, “Father-in-law, you’re in such high spirits, up for a morning run?”
Xue Wuwei muttered, “High spirits, my foot. I just want to ask, the experts from the Feng family and the City Lord’s Mansion will soon be here—what’s your plan?”
Just then, Dou Ying caught up, stood by Xue Wuwei’s side, and glared at Gu Feng. “It’s him! He slept with your daughter—and your sister, too.”
Xue Wuwei, displeased, replied, “I know. We’re talking business now; the rest can wait.”
Dou Ying was immediately dissatisfied and pinched Xue Wuwei’s waist. “What did you just say?”
“Ah!” Xue Wuwei yelped, “What are you doing? I’m busy here! I don’t have time for your nonsense.”
“You…” Dou Ying choked, unable to speak from grievance—Xue Wuwei had never spoken to her like this before.
Gu Feng smiled, “Mother-in-law, this is for you; I think you’ll like it.” With that, he produced a spiritual energy whip and handed it to Dou Ying. Naturally, Xue Wen had told Gu Feng that Dou Ying’s weapon of choice was a whip.
Seeing the whip wreathed in an emerald glow, Dou Ying’s eyes immediately lit up. All thoughts of her daughter and Xue Ziyan were instantly forgotten. She snatched up the whip, treating it as a precious treasure. “This is for me? You mustn’t take it back.”
Gu Feng assured her, “Of course I won’t.”
Dou Ying breathed a sigh of relief, her tone softening. “Good son-in-law, you’re not bad. I’ll leave my daughter to you. As for you and Xue Ziyan—sort it out yourselves.”
Gu Feng was speechless, not expecting his mother-in-law to be so easily appeased.
He turned to Xue Wuwei. “Father-in-law, I need your help with something. In return, I’ll give you five spiritual weapons—at least one of them will be a superior-grade one. How about it?”
Xue Wuwei was nearly delirious with joy at the mention of superior-grade spiritual weapons. “What is it? Just say the word. In Upper Central City, there’s nothing I can’t handle.”
Gu Feng replied, “It’s nothing much. I just need a lot of gold coins—the more, the better.”
Xue Wuwei frowned, thinking it would be something serious. “You just need money?”
“Yes.”
Though he didn’t know why Gu Feng needed so much money, Xue Wuwei said, “Come with me, then.”
He led Gu Feng straight to the Xue family’s treasury, not at all worried that Gu Feng coveted his wealth. Frankly, for the spiritual weapons Gu Feng offered, he’d be willing to trade the entire treasury.
At the treasury, guarding the vault stood Xue Lin, the Xue family’s grand elder and its strongest member. Yes, the esteemed grand elder was a woman.
Whenever members of the Xue family saw her, they would kneel first.
Only Gu Feng and Gu Yan did not kneel.
Xue Lin frowned at them and asked Xue Wuwei, “Who are these people?”
Xue Wuwei quickly introduced them, “He’s Gu Feng, our family’s son-in-law. She’s his sister.”
Xue Lin was not pleased. “If he’s a son-in-law of the Xue family, why does he not kneel before me?”
Xue Wuwei looked at Gu Feng, evidently troubled.
Gu Feng took a few steps forward, approaching Xue Lin. “Grand Elder, may I ask what kind of spiritual weapon you use?”
Money makes the world go round, and Gu Feng didn’t believe there was anyone who didn’t like spiritual weapons.
Xue Lin was taken aback by his question but then sneered, “What kind of spiritual weapon do I like? Do you have one?”
Gu Feng smiled, “If you need it, I can provide it—provided I’m willing, of course.”
Xue Lin glanced at Xue Wuwei and the others, noting their lack of suspicion toward Gu Feng, and asked skeptically, “You really have spiritual weapons?”
Gu Feng nodded confidently.
Seeing this, Xue Lin produced her weapon—a bow with a faint green glow. Clearly, it was a lower-grade spiritual weapon.
Caressing the bow as if it were a lover, Xue Lin finally said, “I obtained this spiritual weapon, the Celestial Profound Bow, when I was young—after leaving the Great Qin Empire and paying a great price in the Sun and Moon Empire.”
Gu Feng muttered, “Celestial Profound Bow, a bold name, though its grade is quite low.”
Xue Lin, displeased, sneered, “Low grade? Do you know how rare bow-type spiritual weapons are? If you can get me a higher-grade one, then do it!”
Gu Feng replied with confidence, “Once my business is done, I’ll give you one.”
Then he turned to Xue Wuwei. “Can I have the money now?”
After explaining the situation to Xue Lin, Xue Wuwei led Gu Feng into the treasury. Xue Lin did not stop them.
Inside, mountains of gold and silver filled the chamber.
Gu Feng immediately used his system to tally up the amount: “Twelve point three billion gold coins.” The number left him stunned with excitement.
Xue Wuwei said with pride, “This is the income the Xue family has amassed over a hundred years.”
“Ding! Experience stone detected.”
“Experience stone?” Gu Feng followed the system’s prompt and walked over.
He found a steel box with a lock on it. The so-called experience stone was inside.
Gu Feng asked Xue Wuwei, “What’s in here?”
Xue Wuwei hesitated; the spiritual stone inside was the most precious item in the entire treasury.
“If you give me what’s inside, I’ll give you a superior-grade spiritual weapon.”
“What?” Xue Wuwei was shocked—a superior-grade spiritual weapon!
Even Xue Lin burst in, grabbing Gu Feng by the collar in excitement. “Are you serious?”
