Chapter 82: The Ninth Opportunity for Death
“Ding! Feng Wan’er’s killing intent toward you has reached its peak, but since her evil value is below 30%, the Death Contract cannot be activated.”
“Is that even possible?”
Gu Feng stared at the hundreds of flying needles shooting toward him, utterly speechless. The woman hated him to the bone, wanted nothing more than to kill him on the spot, yet because her evil value wasn’t high enough, the contract couldn’t trigger.
How frustrating! Had he known things would turn out this way, he wouldn’t have been so cheeky.
“Hey! Beautiful, is there some sort of misunderstanding between us?”
Gu Feng didn’t bother to dodge; he simply stood there, arrogant as ever, acting as though he hadn’t even seen the needles.
Gu Yan watched Gu Feng, lost for words, realizing he was becoming more and more shameless.
Xue Lin frowned deeply; she couldn’t just watch Gu Feng get killed. She stepped forward, blocking him, and with a wave of her hand, conjured an ice shield.
Thud, thud, thud...
All the flying needles embedded themselves in the ice.
Gu Feng grinned at Xue Lin. “Still, big sister is the only one who treats me well!”
Feng Wan’er frowned at Xue Lin, feeling a sense of danger emanating from her.
“You people should leave. You’re not welcome here.”
Though she desperately wanted to kill Gu Feng, he was hiding behind Xue Lin, giving her no opportunity.
Gu Feng stepped out, still grinning. “Miss Wan’er, just teasing you earlier. Don’t take it too—”
“Wait, what did you call me? How do you know my name?”
Feng Wan’er was certain that no one in the Great Qin Empire knew her, nor did anyone in the Sun-Moon Empire know she’d come to Qin. So how did this annoying fellow know her name?
Gu Feng shrugged. “Because we’re fated, aren’t we? It just came naturally to call you Wan’er!”
He had already used the system to learn about Feng Wan’er’s past. She had brought her lover’s ashes to the Great Qin Empire, chosen this mountain to bury him, and now lived here, keeping him company in life and death.
Feng Wan’er instantly grew wary, glaring at Gu Feng. “Tell me, who are you really? Did they send you?”
Gu Feng replied, “I’m a good person. Never mind, I was going to help you, but since you’re so ungrateful, forget it. Stay here and keep your ashes company. Don’t even think of revenge.”
“Who are you? How do you know about me?”
Gu Feng lost interest and took off into the sky.
The four women followed after him.
Feng Wan’er remained on the ground, watching their figures fade into the distance, feeling conflicted.
“Brother Feng, how did you know her story? And how did you know her name?” Xiao Wen asked.
“Heh, Xiao Wen, let me tell you, she met me years ago and was relentless in pursuing me. I wouldn’t give in, so I had no choice but to introduce her to other men. Eventually, she fell for one—he’s the one in the urn on the mountain. Sadly...”
“Hey! Are you done yet?”
Gu Feng spun around. “Ah!” He was startled by Feng Wan’er’s sudden appearance.
She shot him a glare, knowing his mouth was foul, but didn’t argue. She asked seriously, “You said you could help me get revenge—were you serious?”
“Well, you know your enemy is powerful. We’re not exactly close, so... help, you say?” Gu Feng made a money gesture.
Feng Wan’er rolled her eyes and tossed him a space ring. “This is everything I own.”
Gu Feng opened the ring—and was stunned. There were over a hundred thousand low-grade spirit stones, more than ten thousand middle-grade, three high-grade, and countless spiritual artifacts, herbs, pills, and forging materials.
“I’ve struck gold!” Gu Feng shouted in excitement.
Feng Wan’er glared at him. “As long as you help me get revenge, it’s all yours.”
“No problem. Leave it to me.”
He laughed. “Sister, wives, let’s head down to that basin, strengthen ourselves, and then go to White Spirit City. Can’t let others look down on us.”
Without waiting for their agreement, he went down first.
Upon descending, he discovered a pool beneath the cliff, where a massive python coiled, guarding a lotus at its center.
Gu Feng’s arrival startled the python, which opened its eyes and flicked its enormous tongue, clearly displeased.
Gu Feng, bold as ever, greeted it loudly: “Hey, Brother Python, you seem to enjoy life here—bathing in spring water every day, basking in the sun. Why not come out and sunbathe?”
The women following nearly stumbled and fell.
Xue Ziyan protested, “Feng, could you not be so shameless? That’s a snake!”
“You’re right. Such a big snake—are you hungry? Should we see how it tastes, cooked?”
Roar!
The python reared up three meters, roaring in fury.
According to the system, the python wanted Gu Feng and his group to leave, or else it would devour them all.
Gu Feng stepped forward, hands on his hips, and pointed at the snake, cursing, “How dare you roar at me, you beast? Look at my three wives—each a beauty, utterly obedient to me. You, ugly and a mere animal, dare treat me like this? Are you tired of living?”
Feng Wan’er, unfamiliar with Gu Feng, watched his reckless behavior and nervously swallowed, turning to the four women. “Aren’t you worried about him?”
Gu Yan smiled wryly. “My brother fears nothing, not even death. There’s no point trying to dissuade him—just watch him go crazy.”
“He’s your brother?” Feng Wan’er asked.
Gu Yan blushed. “My sweetheart.”
“He just said you three are his wives?” Feng Wan’er looked at Xue Ziyan in disbelief—was she really his wife, too?
Xue Ziyan didn’t mind. “Don’t doubt it. I’m his wife.”
Feng Wan’er then looked at Xue Lin.
Xue Lin grinned at her. “Don’t look at me—I’d like to be his wife, but he thinks I’m too old.”
Roar!
The python lunged at Gu Feng.
“Ding! The Giant Water Python’s killing intent toward you has reached its peak. Ninth Death Opportunity activated.”
Gu Feng was ecstatic. “Ha! Come, Brother Python—witness my explosive shockwave!”
Feng Wan’er watched as the python charged at Gu Feng, yet he remained fearless, even taunting it madly. She was shocked. “What is he doing?”
Gu Yan whispered, “My brother has a suicide syndrome. It can’t be cured.”
Feng Wan’er grew anxious. “If he dies, what about my revenge? And you—all just stand by and watch him die?”
Boom!
Feng Wan’er turned and saw both the enormous python and Gu Feng vanish in a bloody mist.
At that moment, another giant python burst from the pool, glaring furiously at Gu Yan and the others.
