Chapter Ninety-Five: Stand Up and Run
Zhang Shan’s quiet attempt to back away was quickly noticed by the members of the Crossroads Guild.
“Damn it, Six-Barreled Bodhisattva is trying to run! Boss, let’s move, enough talking.”
“Charge together.”
After saying that, Donghai Dragon King pulled out a scroll.
The people from the Stormcloud Guild, seeing this, scattered like birds and beasts.
But it was useless.
The scroll in Donghai Dragon King’s hand turned into specks of light and slowly vanished. In the next instant, dark clouds gathered overhead.
Countless bolts of lightning crashed down, and the area around the battle flag was soon engulfed in thunder. Everyone who failed to get clear in time fell to the ground.
Zhang Shan was one of the fastest runners, but even that meant nothing; lightning quickly swallowed him too.
A monstrous damage number flashed up, and he dropped instantly.
What the hell kind of scroll was that? With over twenty thousand health, he had still been one-shot, and he had not even seen the damage value clearly.
How many hundreds of thousands of damage was that? Terrifying.
And the damage area was absurdly wide too, at least five hundred yards across.
Compared with this scroll, the archer’s ultimate skill, Fury of the Stars, looked pathetic.
Fury of the Stars only covered fifty yards. Its tenfold damage was impressive, but many tanks could still possibly endure it.
But with Donghai Dragon King’s scroll, nobody could withstand it at present. Even Little Secretary went down instantly.
Everyone defending the middle battle flag alongside Stormcloud World had collapsed. Spreading out farther made no difference.
Not a single one escaped.
“Respawn and run back as fast as you can. The other two lanes should cut the flags first, then come back to help. Those who revive in the middle shouldn’t rush in too hard; just harass them slowly.”
Everyone else went to revive, leaving Zhang Shan still lying there.
It was not that he did not want to revive. The problem was that he still had one more life. Until his resurrection skill was consumed, he did not count as truly dead and had no revive option.
He just hoped the Crossroads Guild had not noticed him. After all, he was lying a little far from the battle flag.
Don’t see me. Don’t see me.
Zhang Shan prayed silently on the ground.
“The Stormcloud Guild has all revived. Half of us cut the flag first, the rest spread out and stay alert.”
“At last, we’ve put that bastard Six-Barreled Bodhisattva down. Too bad it wasn’t with an axe. Doesn’t feel nearly as satisfying.”
“Are you sure he’s dead? Last time, he somehow got back up after dying.”
“Damn, you’re right. Hurry and search. See if there’s a body on the ground. If there is, surround it and guard the corpse.”
Damn, had the Crossroads Guild reacted that fast?
He still needed a few more seconds before he could stand up. Zhang Shan had thought the resurrection trigger at ten seconds was perfect.
It would let him avoid those large-area damage-over-time skills. No matter how outrageous a skill was, it could not keep dealing damage for ten full seconds, right?
Like the priest’s ultimate, Rain of Fire Across the Sky, which only lasted five seconds, or Fury of the Stars, which also lasted five seconds.
And the resurrection skill triggered ten seconds after he fell. Standing up after ten seconds should have been just right.
The skill damage would already be over.
But now, he was desperate for the resurrection delay to be shortened by even a few seconds.
Zhang Shan’s prayer had no effect. Before long, someone spotted him lying on the ground, though the ten seconds should almost be up by then.
The scroll’s duration alone was five seconds, and the members of the Crossroads Guild had only realized what was happening after a delay.
There was still a chance.
“Damn it, Six-Barreled Bodhisattva is here! He’s lying on the ground playing dead. Someone get over here!”
“Damn, is that a feign-death skill? Hurry over and guard the corpse!”
Only one person had found Zhang Shan, while the others rushed toward the spot where he was lying.
Then, all at once, Zhang Shan stood up on the spot.
The members of the Crossroads Guild were stunned.
“Holy hell, is that a skill or an item? How can he have two lives?”
“Forget that for now. Stun him! As long as we can hold him for two seconds, we can chain our skills!”
As soon as Zhang Shan got back on his feet, he said nothing and immediately activated Berserk, rendering him immune to all control effects.
He turned and fled toward the rear.
The reinforcements in the back should be arriving soon. As long as he linked up with them, Zhang Shan would have nothing to fear.
The people who had already died, including Stormcloud World’s group, would need a little more time to return. Zhang Shan could not wait for them to respawn and come back.
But he did not need to wait for Stormcloud World’s party. All he needed was to join up with the reserve force. With support healing him and tanks taking some of the punishment, he would be fine.
Then he would no longer have to fear these people from the Crossroads Guild. With cover and healing, he was invincible when planted.
Zhang Shan, under Berserk, sprinted wildly in front, while everyone from the Crossroads Guild chased after him. They even stopped attacking the Stormcloud Guild’s flag.
They had truly abandoned everything, just to cut him down once. How shameless.
One meteor arrow after another flashed across Zhang Shan’s body, only to miss.
For the ten seconds Berserk lasted, no control skill could stun him.
“Damn it, why does Six-Barreled Bodhisattva have so many bizarre skills? Forget that instant revival nonsense, but what kind of skill is this immunity to control?”
“Who knows? And his critical hit rate is terrifyingly high too. Maybe he has some skill that boosts crit.”
“Who gives a damn what skills he has? With this many of us, once we catch up, we can hack him to death.”
“Don’t stop up ahead. Keep chasing. Stormcloud World’s crew still needs time to revive. I refuse to believe we can’t bring down Six-Barreled Bodhisattva.”
Donghai Dragon King and the others had no idea that Stormcloud World had left behind part of their support force in the rear.
Zhang Shan did not need to wait for Stormcloud World to revive. He only needed to link up with the reserve troops.
Of course, even if they had known, Donghai Dragon King and the others would have kept chasing. Their resentment was just too deep.
As Berserk was about to end, Zhang Shan finally saw his allies.
“Brothers, help me out! I’m almost at my limit!”
“Damn it, the artifact boss didn’t die? I heard the boss and the others were all sent to revive by one scroll from Donghai Dragon King.”
“Why are you asking so much? Hurry and meet him!”
“Hold on, boss!”
“Damn it, why are so many from the Crossroads Guild chasing after us? Don’t they have our flag to cut?”
Seeing at least a hundred pursuers behind Zhang Shan, the allies sent to meet him were stunned. Apparently, they were willing to ignore the flag entirely just to kill Zhang Shan first.
Even from far away, they could sense the sky-high resentment radiating from Donghai Dragon King and the others.
After joining the support force, Zhang Shan immediately turned around and opened fire.
Frenzy activated. He had just leveled up today and gained another skill point, bringing Frenzy to level four and increasing attack speed by forty percent.
Six seconds of true manhood. No explanation needed.
Bullets of fury poured down like rain on the members of the Crossroads Guild.
Zhang Shan targeted the fragile ones first, leaving the sturdier warrior classes for his allies to hold off for the moment, even though their numbers were smaller.
Still, they only needed to hold them off for a short while. Zhang Shan quickly brought down the fragile enemies in front.
Then he kept firing at the tougher targets. Donghai Dragon King, who was closing in from the rear, was instantly infuriated.
They had been just one step away from cutting Zhang Shan down, so why had reinforcements shown up?
“Warriors, move up! Everyone else, push forward too! I refuse to believe that with over a hundred of us, we can’t beat thirty-some people.”
But Zhang Shan’s violent output would soon teach him that, sometimes, sheer numbers meant nothing.
Last time on Wolf Ridge, they had managed to bring Zhang Shan down once because no one had been there to help him.
Alone, he really could not withstand so many blades hacking at him. This time, however, he had more than thirty teammates assisting him.
Now let’s see how Donghai Dragon King and the others were supposed to charge through.
