As the spears of the Holy Saints were about to strike him, Li Chengzhu hurriedly summoned all his celestial energy to form a protective shield around himself. Within his Nascent Soul, the Golden Bell Armor and Iron Cloth wrapped tightly to ward off any damage from the shock.

Suddenly, a transparent mirror, covering a radius of several meters, appeared above Li the Boss’s head. The spears clanged against its surface, only to be harmlessly bounced back.

"Are you alright?" A familiar voice sounded at his ear.

Li Chengzhu looked up—clanging, shimmering, Xiao Ying made her dazzling entrance.

"I'm fine," Li the Boss replied, while discreetly straightening his disheveled robes.

The mirror that had blocked the Holy Saint spears shrank suddenly and floated into someone’s hand. Following its movement, Li Chengzhu met Gu Linglong’s gaze. She nodded slightly at him, and Li the Boss grinned, baring his teeth; his laugh brought a blush to Gu Linglong’s cheeks.

This defensive artifact was known as the Void Treasure Mirror. It could reflect magical attacks to a certain degree. Gu Linglong had used it to reflect the final heavenly thunder during her ascension, which, by sheer misfortune, struck Li Chengzhu who happened to be hiking nearby. Thus, she was forced to bring him along as she ascended to the Celestial Realm.

It could be said that all the intertwined fates began with this mirror.

After Gu Linglong ascended, she reforged the artifact, infusing it with pure celestial energy. The Void Treasure Mirror’s defensive capability was now even greater. Her followers relied on its reflective power to safely evade the barrage of Holy Saint spears.

That last volley had decimated a great number of cultivators, but the angels among them fared even worse, perhaps never expecting betrayal from their own ranks. Moreover, every cultivator possessed not only their own protective spiritual shield but also battle armor or celestial armor, and countless defensive artifacts. Artifacts of the Void Treasure Mirror’s caliber could ensure the safety of cultivators within its radius, greatly bolstering their protection.

Thus, after several rounds of angelic artillery fire, it was discovered that many cultivators survived in the supposedly cleared zone, while not a single angel could stand again.

This realization plunged the already regretful commander into deep despair and furious rage. He waved his hands and shouted to flatten the area completely.

But before the artillery could act, countless cultivators erupted from the ground. Flying swords and magical treasures wreaked havoc among the angelic artillery troops.

The angelic artillery corps fell into unprecedented chaos. Though they possessed close-combat abilities, most had devoted themselves to the study of spells, their physical prowess far inferior to the melee angels, and worlds apart from the cultivators.

No matter how the commander screamed, he couldn’t rally the dispirited troops. The already heavy casualties soared, with no sign of abating.

Part of the angelic army’s cherished artillery corps suddenly collapsed, each member fleeing desperately for their lives. But to the cultivators, there was no escape for the defeated.

Wings in mid-flight were severed by flying swords, and those struck by mountain-shaped treasures were crushed to pulp.

The experts with talismans were even more arrogant—decapitating foes from dozens of meters away. The powerful talisman papers, as if equipped with auto-guidance, clung to the fleeing angels, spelling certain death: by explosion, by slicing in half, by devouring—the attacks were myriad, more versatile than magical treasures.

With the artillery corps’ suppression gone, the pent-up cultivators surged like lustful men into a women’s bath, slaughtering the angels with wild abandon.

The tide of battle shifted instantly. The angelic troops, who had once stood off against the cultivators, now retreated in defeat, leaving the ground strewn with corpses as they fled in panic.

For those angels who turned their backs, the cultivators graciously bestowed their final supper.

Gu Linglong and her party sensed the commotion on the battlefield and excitement swept through them.

"Sister, let’s go claim some battle honors!" Xiao Ying urged impatiently, gazing expectantly at Gu Linglong.

The angels’ defeat was inevitable; now it was a race to see who could eliminate the most of their living forces as they retreated.

The enemy’s hope must be strangled in its cradle!

Li Chengzhu glanced at the others who had arrived. Under Gu Linglong’s protection, not a single one had fallen—especially that one. Looking at the annoyingly familiar face, Li the Boss smirked wickedly. "Brother Qiu, good to see you."

"Good to see you," Qiu Feng replied coolly, his gaze never leaving Gu Linglong.

"It’s been over ten days, Brother Qiu. You remain vigorous and dignified as ever!" Li Chengzhu squinted at Qiu Feng’s bloodstained, dusty robes and disheveled hair, smiling as he flicked his own gleaming long robe.

"Not as good as you, Brother Li, surviving by luck!" Qiu Feng laughed loudly, unwilling to be outdone.

Gu Linglong frowned slightly, interrupting, "Let’s chase them. If we don’t hurry, there’ll be nothing left for us." With that, she led the charge after the retreating angels.

When the lord of the city speaks, none dare disobey. Everyone hurried after her, Xiao Ying shot Li Chengzhu a fierce glare and whispered in his ear, "Where have you been these past ten days? Sister has been worried sick—if it weren’t for Marshal Ye saying you were refining an artifact, we would have thought you’d fled or been captured by the angels!"

"Oh?" Li the Boss raised an eyebrow, grinned lewdly, and leaned close to whisper breathily in her ear, "Doesn’t the young lady worry about me, too?"

"Ridiculous!" Xiao Ying’s delicate brows knit, she punched Li the Boss hard on the shoulder and quickened her pace to catch up with Gu Linglong.

Li Chengzhu rubbed the spot Xiao Ying had struck, watching her back as he laughed heartily.

"If a man has no shame and a tree has no bark, both are invincible!" Qiu Feng remarked sourly nearby.

Li Chengzhu shot Qiu Feng a cold glance, grinned cunningly, and proposed, "Brother Qiu, how about a contest?"

"A contest?" Qiu Feng was puzzled.

"Yes, let’s see who can collect the most Divine Crystals in this war."

"What’s the wager?" Qiu Feng sneered. This rookie in the Out-of-Body stage wants to compete with me? Lighting a lamp in the toilet—seeking death!

"The winner gets all our Divine Crystals!" Li Chengzhu tilted his head in challenge.

"Agreed! Deal!" Qiu Feng accepted without hesitation, then, ignoring the others, mounted his flying sword and sped off alone to hunt enemies.

That fool, Li the Boss sneered behind him. With my little treasures and the Glass Needle, how could I lose to you? What an idiot!
