Chapter Seven: You Are My Flower (Part Two)
Highly recommended: the new book "Beast Demon Fox Immortal" by Burning Body YY Warcraft. That guy specializes in writing licentious stories, and I’m sure it won’t disappoint. Book ID: 144106
Yuanmu absorbed the immortal spiritual energy that Boss Li had transferred to him via an array, immediately feeling much more at ease. Even as he tangled with that immortal, he still found time to curse Boss Li a few times. Boss Li, nestled in Xiaoying’s arms, just curled his lips and ignored him. At this moment, savoring a few more breaths of Xiaoying’s milky scent was the true path. Who knew when he’d next have such a blatant excuse to hide in Xiaoying’s embrace? Xiaoying’s fragrance gave Boss Li a sense of returning to a mother’s arms—so warm, so comforting—that even his meridians, drained of spiritual energy, seemed to come alive again. Boss Li let out a contented sigh.
Yuanmu fought ever more fiercely in the air, using the immense immortal aura to force the immortal to defend desperately. Elated, he laughed loudly, “Damn, after living so many years, this is the best fight I’ve ever had! Hey, Li, you seem pretty skilled at wooing women. When we get back to Rainbow City, help me find a beauty so I can dual cultivate with her!” These words made Xiaoying’s cheeks flush red.
Boss Li half-opened his eyes, sneaking a glance at Gu Linglong through the narrow slit. That girl was just as ruthless, working together with the other three cultivators to force the immortal into retreat. Seeing that her expression hadn’t changed much, Boss Li finally relaxed.
“Such shamelessness for an old man!” Boss Li muttered under his breath, lips curling.
Suddenly, a sense of danger welled up within Li Chengzhu. Earlier, he’d faintly sensed something amiss but couldn’t pinpoint what. Now, that feeling grew stronger. He opened his eyes and looked towards the sky. Sure enough, the immortal battling Gu Linglong, though battered, didn’t seem desperate at all—as if still holding something in reserve. And the immortal fighting Yuanmu, while looking dispirited, seemed to be purposefully edging in a certain direction.
That direction was exactly between the two immortals.
“Don’t let them join forces!” Boss Li suddenly understood and shouted loudly.
Even with his quick insight, Boss Li couldn’t prevent the two immortals from joining up. The one entangled with Gu Linglong suddenly unleashed a strength that far exceeded before, forcing Gu Linglong and the others back, then immediately lunged towards Yuanmu’s back.
The combined assault of the two immortals threw Yuanmu, who’d previously held the advantage, into peril. Yet Yuanmu’s battlefield instincts, honed through countless fights, allowed him to narrowly escape death several times during Gu Linglong and the others’ momentary distraction. After a fierce exchange, Yuanmu broke out in cold sweat. Without the guidance of his little companion, he felt as helpless as a blind man groping in the dark.
Lacking a suitable immortal artifact and suddenly having to control such a surge of spiritual energy, Yuanmu felt his head would burst. Forced into a defensive stance, he retreated back to Gu Linglong and the others, taking up position beside them. At this point, only by combining their strength could they hope to defeat the enemy.
Boss Li wiped his forehead and struggled to rise from Xiaoying’s arms—still too late to react in time. If only he’d realized sooner.
The two immortals glared resentfully at Boss Li on the ground, as if annoyed at his meddling.
Gu Linglong’s group, meanwhile, found themselves at a loss. The two immortals were both formidable; their earlier advantage had only been due to taking them by surprise. Now, united, it would be much harder to defeat them one by one.
As if to confirm Boss Li’s premonition, the two immortals simultaneously formed identical hand seals.
“What are you all standing around for?” Boss Li, clear-headed as an observer, shouted anxiously from below. “Hurry up and finish them off—they’re setting up a formation!”
If it were just an offensive or defensive array, Boss Li wouldn’t have been concerned—he had his little treasure, able to counter any attack or defense. What worried him was that the immortals might use a formation that required people as the array points. Judging by their actions, his fears were coming true.
Such formations, which draw on the world’s spiritual energy through human positions, can’t be broken unless the array members themselves are defeated. In the immortal realm, the most common joint attack formations were the Two Elements Array, the Reverse Two Elements Array, the Three Talents Array, and the Four Symbols Array, among others.
These two, clearly, were setting up the Two Elements Joint Attack Array.
In just a heartbeat, their positions were set. The Two Elements Array activated, surging threateningly towards Gu Linglong and her companions.
“Damn it!” Boss Li covered his face, clutching Xiaoying’s hand tightly in agitation.
“Cease your arrogance!” Seeing morale falter, Yuanmu roared, enveloped himself in protective spiritual energy, and charged forward with his sword.
What put Yuanmu at a disadvantage was his lack of suitable weapons. While others could remotely control their immortal swords from afar, he had to wield his meteor blade up close—and he had no protective treasures, either. The few decent artifacts he’d salvaged after the thousand-crane battle had also been destroyed during tribulations in the angelic army camp.
Yet the crisis left Yuanmu with no other choice—if he lacked the strength, and let the enemy break their morale, the consequences would be unthinkable.
Spurred by Yuanmu’s charge, Gu Linglong and the others rallied, unleashing their flying swords in support from behind.
But the combined attack of the two immortals was unimaginably powerful. Forced into a corner, Yuanmu could only take their blow directly with his meteor blade. With just one strike, he suffered a heavy loss.
Down below, Li Chengzhu heard a thunderous boom, followed by a wave of oppressive spiritual pressure sweeping through the air. If Xiaoying hadn’t steadied him from behind, he had no idea where he would have been flung by that force.
Yuanmu, bearing the brunt of the attack, was sent somersaulting through the air, tumbling dozens of steps before regaining his footing. Fortunately, with Gu Linglong and the others providing cover, he didn’t suffer too badly from that blow. Yet, having gained a fifty-percent boost in strength, Yuanmu found it intolerable to be held back like this, and cursing loudly, he charged forward again.
Yuanmu’s temper had been thoroughly ignited.
Back in the day, facing heavenly tribulations alone in the angelic army camp, he’d been unstoppable and high-spirited. How could he let himself be bullied by these two cockroach beasts now?
The rhythm of the battle was instantly disrupted by Yuanmu’s assault. The two immortals, seemingly afraid of death, lost their advantage as soon as this battle-hardened brute closed in. With Gu Linglong, the half-baked immortal, providing assistance, the situation was suddenly brought under control.
Boss Li finally couldn’t hold back. He spat fiercely, cupped his hands around his mouth, and shouted at the top of his lungs, “Yuanmu, you damn bastard, you’re amazing! Jab his ass, bust his balls—hell, smash his damn face! Show him, you punk!”
