Chapter 46: I Am His Girlfriend

The medical room at the amusement park.

The man who had been knocked unconscious was now stripped of his costume, lying with his eyes closed on the pristine white hospital bed. Gu Zhenzhi, Ruan Cha, and their companions stood in a line not far from the bedside.

Before the doctor could arrive, the man on the bed gradually regained consciousness. Seeing that he was awake, Ruan Cha hurriedly tugged Gu Zhenzhi forward. “We’re truly sorry—we didn’t expect to knock you out. This is entirely our fault. Whatever compensation you want, we’ll provide it.”

She apologized sincerely, and after speaking, gave Gu Zhenzhi’s hand a gentle pull.

Gu Zhenzhi echoed her offer, “Just name your price.”

The man was about to wave it off when a girl burst in from outside the infirmary, rushing to his side.

“Yuan Zhi! Are you alright?”

The man, called Yuan Zhi, was nearly knocked over by the girl’s anxious embrace. He steadied himself, smiling indulgently. “I’m fine—it was probably just a brief spell of dizziness. Besides, it’s my fault for scaring them so much this time.”

The girl had already heard the general outline of the incident on her way here. Hearing Yuan Zhi’s words, she turned, fixing her gaze on the two flawless faces behind her. “Sir, even if you’re defending your girlfriend, you can’t go so far as to nearly kill someone else’s boyfriend!”

“She’s not his girlfriend.”

“She’s not my girlfriend.”

Their words overlapped the instant the girl finished speaking—Ruan Wei, Gu Zhenzhi, and Gu Jiayan all spoke in unison.

Gu Zhenzhi was concerned for Ruan Cha’s reputation.

He lowered his gaze, meeting her eyes.

Ruan Cha shot him a fierce glare, then turned away, casting a sharp glance at Ruan Wei.

Then, in a huff, she stamped her foot. “That’s right! That’s right! I am his girlfriend!”

Yuan Zhi and the girl were both utterly bewildered.

What was going on with these four people?

After settling the matter of compensation, the group left the medical room. Dusk was falling, and in half an hour, the amusement park’s fireworks show would begin.

Gu Jiayan and Ruan Wei trailed behind them. When dinner time came, they suggested eating together.

Ruan Cha didn’t answer, instead looking to Gu Zhenzhi to see his reaction.

With a nod from Gu Zhenzhi, they chose a Western restaurant and went inside.

While waiting for their food, Gu Zhenzhi received a call from Chen Yan. He took out his phone, showed the caller ID to Ruan Cha, and then excused himself to the restroom.

As soon as Gu Zhenzhi left, Gu Jiayan’s gaze toward Ruan Cha became openly inquisitive.

“How did you and my eldest brother meet?”

His confident eyes scrutinized her from head to toe.

Ruan Cha was clearly uncomfortable under his stare. She picked up her juice, took a sip, and replied in a flat, emotionless tone, “I fell for him at first sight—loved him so much I couldn’t help myself. That’s how we met.”

“If you really like my brother, then of course I hope you two get to know each other better. My brother is excellent in every way, but when he was young, due to some family matters, his mental state became rather unstable.”

At this, the girl beside him, Ruan Wei, looked at him in surprise. “Jiayan, you mean…”

Gu Jiayan continued slowly, “When my brother was a child, he personally pushed our sixth brother into the water, which directly led to his death. After that incident, he was sent abroad.”

The eldest brother, who had pushed his own brother into the water with his own hands.

Directly causing his death.

Not far away, Gu Zhenzhi, just returning from the restroom, stopped in his tracks the moment he heard these words.

His eyes darkened, terrifyingly so.

He stared fixedly at the girl’s sitting figure.

Would she distance herself from him because of this?
