Chapter 89: I Believe in You, Chacha!
When Ruan Cha returned to the classroom, the other students eyed her with open disdain and mockery.
“Ruan Cha is here!”
“A person ought to know their own limits. Just look at what she is—thinking she can compete in grades with Gu Jiayan? What a joke.”
“Ruan Cha, were you out of your mind back then? How could you say something like that? Are you just bored and trying to stir up some entertainment for us?”
As the class chattered away, Gu Jiayan appeared at the classroom door, accompanied by Ruan Wei.
The two of them stood together like a golden couple, their presence harmonious and striking.
“Ahhh, Jiayan! You’re in our class!”
“Jiayan, how many more live broadcasts are left for your show? Maybe you should quit. If you keep working with Ruan Cha, we’re all worried she might have ulterior motives and try to harm you!”
“Exactly! What if she realizes she can’t beat you and decides to sabotage you before the exam? We’re worried about you!”
Gu Jiayan’s gentle smile remained unruffled, his refined features calm as still water. “It’s alright. We’re competing fairly.”
“You might think that, but not everyone is as pure and harmless as you!”
…
Ruan Cha brushed past the cluster of girls flocked around Gu Jiayan and went straight to her seat.
Shen Susu was lounging over her desk, snacking and listening to music. Seeing Ruan Cha sit down, she hurriedly pressed some snacks into Ruan Cha’s palm. “Cha Cha, the snacks you’ve been giving me lately taste better and better. You’ve spoiled me! I can’t even eat those additive-filled ones from outside anymore.”
Ruan Cha’s eyes curved into a smile. “I’m glad you like them. I’m really sorry about accidentally hurting you last time.”
“It’s fine! If you hadn’t helped me right away, I’d definitely have a scar. And that ointment you gave me is amazing! Not only is there no mark on my forehead, but my skin feels even better than before!”
As she spoke, Shen Susu touched her own forehead—smooth and flawless, not a trace remained.
“That ointment is great for skin repair. If your skin ever acts up or you get pimples, you can use it then, too.”
“Thank you, Cha Cha!” Shen Susu grinned sweetly and threw her arms around Ruan Cha in a hug. “But…”
She hesitated, remembering what she’d seen online. “Cha Cha, are you really planning to compete with Gu Jiayan in grades?”
Ruan Cha lifted an eyebrow, a soft laugh escaping her. “Mm, do you believe in me?”
Shen Susu didn’t hesitate for a second. She nodded firmly. “I believe in you, Cha Cha!”
“Unrealistic.”
No sooner had Shen Susu finished speaking than a cool, derisive laugh sounded behind them.
They turned at the same time to see a black-haired boy with a rebellious glint in his eye, arms crossed as he stared them down.
“Do you even know how good Gu Jiayan is at his studies? He’s already been recommended to Modu University. He doesn’t even need to take the college entrance exam—he’s a genius, the top student in one of the best schools. Do you think you can just challenge him like that?”
Fu Jin’s eyes were full of disdain. He finished speaking, expecting to see some flicker of surprise on Ruan Cha’s delicate face.
Instead, she looked utterly unperturbed, her gaze calm as a quiet lake. “What’s it to you—or to me?”
Fu Jin: “???”
His crossed arms dropped in disbelief. He let out a cold laugh. He had only meant to be helpful—tch, what a waste of good intentions!
Ruan Cha turned away, slinging an arm around Shen Susu’s shoulders.
“Cha Cha, what did you mean just now? ‘What’s it to you—or to me?’”
