Chapter 98: Another Fool
In the classroom, the seating chart for the exam was still unknown and would only be revealed when the teacher arrived. For now, everyone gathered in clusters, chatting away.
The moment Ruan Cha entered, the noisy classroom fell silent for an instant. That brief silence was swiftly replaced by even louder laughter and mocking voices.
"Isn't this our brave classmate Ruan Cha, who dared to challenge Gu Jiayan? Everyone, take a good look—maybe you'll catch some luck and score well on the test!"
"No, no, if you want luck, you'd better stay far away. I'm afraid... I might end up with an eight-point score, ha ha ha!"
Ruan Cha paid no heed to their sarcastic remarks, indifferent to their taunts. The others watched her, frustrated by her lack of response, as if their fists had struck nothing but air.
Only when she sat down did Ruan Cha tuck a strand of hair behind her ear, remove her earphones, and put them away in her bag.
The crowd: ...
So all this time, she hadn't heard a single word they said!
As indignation simmered, Ruan Wei appeared at the doorway, her close friend Lin Yao by her side. Ruan Wei walked up to Ruan Cha, as if she wanted to say a few words. "Cha Cha..."
But Lin Yao blocked her, "Wei Wei, why are you still talking to her? You treat her as a sister, but she certainly doesn't treat you as one. If you try to advise her now and she ends up with terrible grades, it'll be your Ruan family that loses face."
"Cha Cha is still my sister. I can't ignore her just because she made a mistake in a moment of impulse," Ruan Wei replied.
Hearing this, Shen Susu, who sat beside Ruan Cha, could no longer stay quiet. Her cheeks puffed up like a little pufferfish, angry and indignant. "What do you mean, 'a mistake in a moment of impulse'? Our Cha Cha is amazing!"
"Oh, I almost forgot there's another fool here. Only you believe Ruan Cha is amazing—such a brainless, sweet idiot," Lin Yao sneered, her tone icy.
Shen Susu's eyes reddened with anger at being called a fool. "I'm not stupid! Cha Cha really is amazing..."
"Not stupid? You're like some crazed fan, sending love letters to Nan Zhiche for half a year. And what happened? Did Nan Zhiche ever spare you a glance?"
Mentioning Nan Zhiche instantly dampened Shen Susu's spirits. She lowered her gaze, her eyelashes drooping and shimmering with unshed tears.
Ruan Cha didn't know who Nan Zhiche was or what had happened to Shen Susu before, but Lin Yao's aggressive, bullying demeanor struck a nerve deep within her.
She looked up, noticing Lin Yao's arrogant attitude as she slapped Shen Susu's face over and over, each slap loud and harsh.
Ruan Cha's brows furrowed.
Her gaze darkened.
"Get out."
Her voice was cold, sharp, and merciless.
"I'm talking to this fool—what business is it of yours?" Lin Yao snapped back. She was a notorious little delinquent, well-connected with troublemakers outside school, and always behaved arrogantly at school.
"Don't understand human language?" Ruan Cha's entire expression turned icy, a fierce anger growing in her eyes.
"Ruan Cha, I'm warning you, don't push me—" Lin Yao didn't even finish her sentence before Ruan Cha raised her hand and slapped her. "That's your return gift."
Ruan Wei, stunned to see Ruan Cha hit someone at school, shrieked, her voice sharp enough to be heard in the hallway. "Cha Cha, how can you hit someone?! We're all classmates..."
"When Lin Yao was hitting Susu, why didn't I hear you shout? All day long, you just know how to scream—are you possessed by a squealing chicken?!"
